And where we sit in the Maryhill club there is a big photo of Meiklejohn. He played for them for about six months. “They sold him to Rangers for £10 and a corrugated iron fence for their ground, so they hang this photo and it has always been a source of interest. “He is shaking hands with a referee but nobody knows when or where it was taken. I was looking through the archives one day just trying to find out when I started reading about him and it was clear he was a special player. My persistence has paid off, well that and asking in the right places ? The photo was taken in in Philadelphia on the 18th May 1935, Scotland X1 v German-Americans X1 The Scotland X1 won 3-0 and the other captain in E Davis. Callum_Doon 1,036
Might eventually have explained our enigmatic trawler photograph. A couple of responses from trawlerphotos.co.uk: "Lots of boats got the Rangers crest on the side of the wheelhouse in the NE of Scotland , lots of boats got celtic crest or Aberdeen crest as well just seems to be something the Peterhead/Fraserburgh boats have done for years'. "That's Fraserburgh shiplift , not sure what boat though". Don54 and Bobby Hume
