Get used to it, there is going to be a hell of a lot more of it from 2018. Friendly games have been ditched - for more competitive Nations League games. Ontop of Euro/WC qualifications. UEFA are squeezing even more money out international matches.

Doesn't mean there is going to be more international breaks, just that the friendlies are being replaced with glorified ones.

True, but the old excuse of pulling players out because it is a friendly can no longer be applied. Particularly as qualifications for EURO and seeding places are at stake (which they always were for friendlies, due to the short sighted attitude of the SFA they probably should have taken them more seriously and chose suitable teams to play in order to climb rankings). Anyway, I think they are played as double headers round robin format - so there will only be 5 rounds so shouldn't notice too much difference. Of course, the competitive element may lead to more demands and injuries for clubs to be aware of.
