Gaz52 11,837
He coached a "Glasgow Rangers" basketball team back in the 90s I believe, you'd see updates of their scores round Ibrox. He was better known these days for hosting the NFL coverage on Sky Sports. A true gent and well liked by everyone. This is a sad loss. RIP Kevin. RangersMedia 35,961
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guildford_Kings ^^ Rangers bought them in 1988, won the league in 1988-89, sold the franchise straight after. Weirdly enough, I just stumbled on this too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livingston_(basketball) - owned by Murray. Looks like he had a fallout with the league operators so folded his Livingston team and sold the Rangers team.

Gaz52 11,837
The history of our club is like a bottomless pit, you think you've got it all sussed and then something else pops up and surprises you What a glorious institution we are. MisterC 12,263
Knew we'd had a basketball team back in the day but didn't know he was coach or that we won the league! Interesting to note that Alton Byrd who used to present Sports America on 5 live played for the team as well. It would be great if we could get a chance to get another team going in another sport. A Rangers rugby team would be great and would be very fitting given the origins of the club's name.
cogsy69uk 60
Think the basketball team was called Linpride Rangers. Vaguely remember the guy who ran the company, a double glazing firm who sponsored the team. RIP Kevin
