I would say yes as trigger had the same broom for 30yrs with 11 new shafts and 8 new heads

You could buy a replacement leg,  It will still be the same Ironing board and cover, it will just have the bit that was damaged being repaired, so that it could continue to function. You just have to make sure you get the correct leg.
