Davie Provan gets it almost right...

As much as he's wrong about not replacing Pedro, he's got it spot on about King.

Rangers don’t need to replace Pedro Caixinha… they need to replace Dave King, says Davie Provan

The Ibrox club are looking for their third boss in just over two years and King is still getting away with it

AS Pedro Caixinha was being kicked down the marble staircase this week, Teflon Dave was slipping out the back door.

How does Dave King get away with it?

King’s poor judgement leaves Rangers looking for their third manager in just over two years, yet his part in the club’s stagnation is overlooked?

His background as a “Rangers man” has won him the benefit of the doubt again. When the baying mob are finished with Caixinha, maybe the penny will drop.

It’s not a new manager Rangers need, it’s a new owner.

For Rangers EVER to challenge celtic again, it will take serious money. King is either unwilling or unable to find it.

Dave King will now be looking for his third manager in two years.

Hard to believe Gers let pantomime villain Mike Ashley slip through their fingers. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to get a billionaire into the Ibrox boardroom was squandered by the hard of thinking.

When the battle for Ibrox control should have come down to hard cash, emotion won the day.

King claimed the crown because he wore a Rangers scarf as a wee boy.

Only in football could a man with such a colourful past be welcomed like the prodigal son.

That Rangers’ absentee chairman allowed a three-man committee to appoint the new boss beggars belief.

What was he thinking when Caixinha’s name was put in front of him?

You can imagine the conversation: “Ok boss here’s the plan. We’re going to ignore anyone with any knowledge of Scottish football. We’ve found a guy working in the desert who fits the bill.
Track record? No. But we’ll give him £8million for a summer rebuild, then sack him after ten league games if it’s not looking good.”

The Portuguese boss spent £8million in the summer

It’s been one step forward, two back under the Portuguese. There have been few signs Caixinha’s team was about to click.

But if it hadn’t been for a missed penalty and a last-minute Chris Burke goal, Rangers would have been sitting three points behind Aberdeen on Thursday morning.

Given that the team was ripped up in the summer, shouldn’t the Rangers board have held their nerve for just a bit longer?

As Caixinha walks with a £500k pay-off, his successor will pay the price for this sacking. Whoever comes in is already behind the eight ball.

They’ll inherit a posse of Caixinha signings who’ve struggled with the Scottish game.

Getting them off the books quickly will be costly. Do King and his fellow investors have the cash for another squad rebuild?

Meanwhile, Pedro now takes his place on the Aunt Sally stall. The Portuguese isn’t short of company.

Paul Le Guen, Dr Jo Venglos, Ebbe Skovdahl and Ivano Bonetti are just some of those chewed up and spat out by Scottish football.

Is that because our game is too sophisticated for them? Or just too primitive?

Despite the ridicule heaped upon him, Caixinha isn’t stupid. His assessment of Scottish football shouldn’t be dismissed just because it was damning. He highlighted the lack of Scots with any profile in European football. He mentioned our poor UEFA co-efficient ranking as genuine cause for concern.

He questioned the direction of the game in Scotland and whether we should continue down the same route. Failure or not, Caixinha was spot-on.

When Bruno Alves compared our Premiership with Portuguese lower-league football, he was scorned.

Bruno Who? was the reaction.

Listen, Alves has a better pedigree than any other player in this country.

Having played in Portugal, Russia, Italy and Turkey, he’s well qualified to assess our game.

But here in the land of the long diagonal, nobody is listening.

In last weekend’s Betfred Cup semi-final, Alves must have thought he’d landed on the moon.

The ball was in the air longer than the International Space Station.

Ian Cathro was another victim of the Scottish game. Schooled in Portugal and Spain, Cathro failed badly because his philosophy was never compatible with the Scottish style.

Does that mean he was wrong? Or just in the wrong country?

Sadly, there is only one team in Scotland playing “proper” football and that is celtic.

It might not be good enough for the top end of the Champions League but it is the only way to play. Former Gers chairman Alastair Johnston admits as much, claiming Rangers have to identify their own version of Brendan Rodgers.

For sure, King and his board can’t afford another mistake. They will surely ignore those braying for another “Rangers man”.

Wearing the club scarf doesn’t make you a better coach. King had better get the next guy right.

I think Kings not really the man at Rangers I never have he just doesn't have the Money I think its more the Parks who have the cash and Kings a useful idiot to take the blame a bit like Paul Murray another good scapegoat to have around.

Stewart Robertson, Graeme Park, and Andrew Dickson made the last Managerial decision

The op is struggling for new material to hate King with if he actually read that and agrees with a total cunt like Provan.

There is not new material needed for any sensible bear to hate King

And I'm top of the pile . Fuck Provan though and what any of the hating media has to say

Jump-the-dyke needs to make his mind up.

”....Rangers would have been sitting three points behind Aberdeen on Thursday morning.......shouldn’t the Rangers board have held their nerve for just a bit longer?”

Then two sentences later

“....a posse of Caixinha signings who’ve struggled with the Scottish game”.

Ashley stitched us up and it never looked likely he would invest.

Provans got a point re: scottish football and how foreign managers or different thinking is ridiculed. It is a joke when you consider how far as a country we have fell in the last 10-15 years.

The SFA or the EFL stopped him. Can't remeber as to which one. Limited to 10% rule.
