NeoGeo7 10,443
Breaks your heart seeing that. Life is short and fragile and we should never forget that. I only hope his battling serves others well in the future and hope we can somehow combat this utterly horrid disease.
BlueVanguard 6,608
Wish we could get one for Ricksen at Ibrox, Since he left us i don't honestly think i have seen a captain with as much heart as he had, He came over a foreigner with little knowledge of Rangers only of there big name but left a Rangers fan and his love for the club and passion was only of that of a Rangers man. weehank 41
Fantastic gesture to a man who is the epitomy of bravery both on and off the park . God bless you and your family Fernando
harlands plater 16,958
I have nothing but the utmost admiration for Fernando in the way he has faced up to his illness. He has been an inspiration for so long, hard to believe it’s three years this month since his game at Ibrox yet he’s still fighting.
gmcf 34,092
The whole thing is just heartbreaking . You can just see how it's affecting everyone connected to Fernando .

ForeverBlue92 308
I've been sitting here trying to think what i should say, but the honest truth is we probably all feel the same horrific feeling inside trying to watch that. Truly heartbreaking.
Thewhitesettler 2,711
Sad to see him like that. Feels like only yesterday that he was crunching into tackles, against the taigs. Wish we had a few more like him in our team now. Never gave anything less than100%.

Seriously? A statue? I am heartbroken the same as everyone about what has happened to Fernando and I loved him as a player but I don’t think he merits a statue. If it wasn’t for his situation would you hand on heart (and sword and shield) honestly want a statue of him at Ibrox?

Whilst it all very sad there’s no reason for a statue, numerous ex players from our history would be miles before him in the queue for one. If it wasn’t for his situation would you hand on heart (and sword and shield) honestly want a statue of him at Ibrox? Exactly. I have all the sympathy in the world for Fernando and wish him all the best but just because he's dying of a terrible disease doesn't mean he merits a statue at our ground. I'm glad he's being given support from his old clubs etc but some of the stuff you see on social media is basically ambulance chasing. No one would be calling for a statue of him if not for the current situation so folk should show a bit of class and pay tribute to him in a fitting way, imo a person should only have a statue while they're alive under rare circumstances or for achieving something truly remarkable, not just because they're dying. I know this sounds kind of harsh but there's no nice way to say it really. Bring him to the stadium, hold friendlies and fundraisers etc but there's no need in a statue of him

geneva_ger 9,331
I am absolutely convinced that every sole on this planet has the same feelings about Fernando and what the poor guy, his family and friends are going through. So sad to see him facing his remembrance.
born a blue nose 90,719
Can't watch the videos, still far too raw. Call me a shitebag if you like but I just can't do it. The heart breaking thing for me is you can't even say get well soon as this horrible disease only gets worse. Hopefully you're not in too much pain Fernando. sandyinroyalblue 16,478
Just not fair for Fernando or anyone to be struck down by that horrible disease. Best wishes to Fernando and anyone fighting MND.
saintbob1969 1,448
I wouldn't stand against any statue to celebrate this individual not simply as a Rangers footballer but as a human being showing great courage, why not celebrate such fundamental courage and humanity? Of course there are better players further up the queue. Lets just say its a tragedy and we should do what we can to fight such terrible diseases.
