Bring in a young player who's underperforming or can't get a game at his parent club and trial him for a few months. If it works out we get a player for nothing, if it doesn't work out just send them back as we did with Oduwa. For every Dalcio there will be a DJ and hopefully Mark Allen can press on and do more of this work for us. That's evidently not the case. It isnt that often that teams look to loan a player out who is reaching the end of their contract, unless they know the player has no intention of renewing and it just saves the parent club wages for a period. We were very fortunate to land John the way we did. Many clubs looking to loan players to us likely have no intention of punting them free, or even cheaply, Goss being an example of that. Still, happy days for us, we got a half decent player for nothing. Hope he cracks on for club and country.

I know Rossiter hasn't worked out for us so far but Dembele seems good business for celtic and we should be taking advantage of this no compensation for youth development loophole that exists. Probably dozens of young players coming through their ranks that can be poached on pre-contracts each season.
