Liverpool fans convinced Steven Gerrard will replace Zeljko Buvac as Jurgen Klopp's No.2

The 56-year-old has stepped away from his post just two days before the Reds' Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma

Liverpool fans think Steven Gerrard will replace Zeljko Buvac as Jurgen Klopp's No.2 following the assistant manager's shock departure.

Buvac has worked alongside Klopp for 17 years but a reported dispute between the pair has brought an apparent end to their working relationship.

The timing is less than ideal, with Liverpool playing in a Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma on Tuesday.

With the position now seemingly vacant, Liverpool fans can see club legend Gerrard filling the void.

The 37-year-old has been heavily linked with taking the Rangers job, but he could now perform a sensational U-turn.

this seems more logical than him showing up at Ibrox

How is that clear?

If anything an experienced manager like say for instance Nigel Pearson/Neil Warnock/Steve Clarke as examples would have spoke to us if we had approached their clubs for permission to speak and then discussed it with them. Incidentally they are just used as an example.

Gerrard probably has more advisers round him to shape his career so is probably harder to land than an experienced manager who still needs an income. Remember Gerrard can afford to wait for what he and his team think is the correct option.

The only thing that is clear is that King and the rest have not bothered their arse until the need to get income in for next year and what may have been an enquiry has grown arms and legs....apparently he is in Glasgow to get a 4 year contract if you believe some.

Fair points.

While there's been no official approaches surely king and Co have sounded out experienced managers via agents within the last 7 months.

Unless their plan was to hope murty did well enough to justify another season.

Why would it be one month?

Please, please be true.

Pressure on the board to get a proper manager in.

Because Buvac hasnt left he's just taking the rest of the season off for personal reasons

It's a stick on he's going to do a U Turn. Im starting to think this has been a well crafted plot by Liverpool, King and Gerrard. Dave sells his season tickets, Gerrard ups his profile to attract other clubs.

Bizarre that anyone thinks this would sell season tickets

What exactly leads you to believe that Dave King is capable of a "well crafted plot"?

Reporter call three Liverpool fans.

Q. Now that Buvac is taking time off is it possible SG could be Klopp's No.2?

A Aye, it's possible

Reporter: Thank's for the headline.

Even less effort than that. Go onto twitter and lift a few tweets. Done.

Steven Gerrard is expected to continue talks with Rangers this week, with the club set to make an announcement on Graeme Murty's future.

Negotiations are to continue between the club and Gerrard's party in the aftermath of Rangers' 5-0 defeat to bitter rivals celtic, Sky Sports Newsunderstands.

Any potential agreement would see Gerrard take over his first senior position as a first team manager since retiring from the game.

Should Gerrard take up the post, it is expected his former Liverpool team-mate Gary McAllister will join him as assistant manager.

Interim boss Murty remains in place despite Sunday's loss at celtic Park, though it is now unclear if he will remain in the dugout for Saturday's home fixture against Kilmarnock.

Murty did not address the media following the defeat, which saw celtic pick up their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers have so far been unable to give confirmation on whether Murty will remain in charge though Sky Sports News understands the 43-year-old will address the media later in the week, with his immediate future likely to be clarified within the next 24 hours.

Oh, I've got absolutely no doubt that he's one of those evil lizard people. I just don't think he's an evil lizard person in cahoots with Steve Gerrard.

Because he managed to get control of our club with promises that would make david murray cringe

The 3 year orchestrated plan worked to a T for him

The only plan King has is not to lose his money and get back what he lost, one way or another’, folk don’t get rich by spunking their cash away.

Aye so the guy has a bust up with Klopp, leaves and is then going to just come back after a few months....?  That about as sensible as taking on a youth coach to be manager of Rangers...oh wait.
