I read an opinion piece earlier on today regarding Barrie McKay:

Rangers must make stunning move to re-sign Barrie McKay from Nottingham Forest less than a year after he was given his marching orders.

The Ibrox academy product would be a brilliant addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad as the manager begins the process of beefing up a team that has fallen woefully short this season.

As revealed by Football Insider, McKay is one of nine Forest players who have been told by manager Aitor Karanka they can find new clubs as they do not feature in his plans going forward.

Forest finished in 17th place in the Championship this season and Karanka feels big decisions need to be made on the squad if they are to challenge for promotion next season.

McKay, 23, was brought to the City Ground last summer by ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton and was a mainstay of the team in the opening half of the season, scoring five goals and seven assists by early December.

But the attacking midfielder was frozen out virtually from the moment Karanka took over and has made just two league appearances since January.

With the former Middlesbrough boss clearly not a big admirer of McKay, Rangers must take advantage to bring the one-time Scotland international back to Ibrox.

It would be a travesty if a player of such sumptuous technique and class was sidelined or left wasting away for much longer.

Voted no.

He was too small, weak, easily pushed about and never seemed to try and improve on that. He had enough talent that he could've made a better impact but never had a manager that could coach him properly to bring it out.

He's better than Murphy right enough, but still no.

I think he was treated shabbily by Casheena - but his form was all over the place at times, on his day he can be fantastic but his days were 1 in 3.

Maybe with a bit of better coaching he would improve, says it all that NF finished as low as they did and he couldn't get a game.

Not for me.  Found wanting more often than not and we can't afford another passenger in the team.  Had the odd good game but would default to type on a regular basis.  Obviously has some talent but not good enough for us and I found him to be an extremely frustrating player to watch.  It would be a backwards move for us imo.  I'll be hoping that Gerrard has some more pull to entice far greater players than McKay.
