Gerrard wants us to play Klopp's way

He literally said the opposite in an interview with Klopp a few weeks ago.

Said there's no point me saying I want to play the Klopp way because I don't have Klopp's players and I don't have people like Firmino and Mane up front.

If you read the interview he doesn’t actually say anything about taking Klopp’s style of play. He says he wants to emulate Klopp’s honesty.

Quote: “He’s been absolutely massive for the club. You don’t want someone to pretend or bat back any question. He answers every single question with honesty and truth.

“It’s one of his values that I hope to take.”

Scottish Sun headline grabbing and already creating things to beat us with, when Gerrard goes route one it’ll be “didn’t you say you’d play like Klopp?!”

Sorry maybe I’m just being old fashioned but where is the direct quote saying he wants to play like Klopp?

Every fan in the world loves watching that supposedly = “I’m going to make Rangers play this way”?

The only thing he wants to emulate are his honesty and truth based on the quotes above.

I detest these clickbait headlines where the report suggests nothing at all of the content.

One for example said windass was leaving because he thanked Kenny miller.....failing to realise its miller that’s leaving therefore nothing in it whatsoever (i know windass is likely to leave but the message didn’t mean that)

Didn’t see you'd already said what I said above, it’s complete an utter nonsense. Gerrard won’t even be speaking to The Sun.

Media misrepresenting what he said already but no big deal.

Klopp's fast-paced and aggressive style is what would work in Scotland and what we were all hoping we have next season. Big bastard CBs, quick attacking fullbacks, pure workhorses in midfield and rapid, skillful wingers.

That's a good soundbite but in order to win you first need a formation and a philosophy.

Rangers fans have reason to be very excited after Gerrard makes exciting Klopp revelation

Rangers secured third place in the Premiership and a place in the Europa qualifiers after a crazy 5-5 final day draw with Hibs, and fans are now ready to welcome in a new era with Steven Gerrard as their manager.

And, after a season packed with disappointment, amid a few weeks of misplaced optimism, there’s a reason for Rangers fans to be very excited about next season.

Of course there’s the small matter of an intriguing transfer window, with Gerrard and his number two Gary McAllister set to reshape the Rangers squad in their image.

But beyond that, next season promises to be thrilling for Rangers fans both on and off the pitch as Gerrard made an exciting revelation – that he wants to to play the game in the same swashbuckling way as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Talking after the Hibs game, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, Gerrard added, “I think every fan in the world loves watching that.”

He also said that he would try to emulate Klopp of the field as well.

“He’s been absolutely massive for the club. You don’t want someone to pretend or bat back any question. He answers every single question with honesty and truth.

“It’s one of his values that I hope to take.”

Gerrard is certainly talking a good game, getting Rangers fans onside quickly by saying that celtic have had things their way for too long.

He obviously intends to take the fight to celtic in all areas and by saying he’s going to emulate Klopp, things will be entertaining no matter what the results on the pitch.

However, if he can get those right as well, next season could be one of the most explosive Scottish fans have ever witnessed.

In other Rangers news, Gerrard ramps up war of words with celtic and sends Rodgers warning after Rangers 5-5 draw

We would need one hell of a defence and midfield to play Klopp's Liverpool way!

Liverpool's defence is a real weak point, they can't defend cross balls and struggle to defend the flanks. Sure they have Van Dick but they also have Lovren who is a truly awful player, I sure hope Stevie G is better at sorting out shite defences than Klopp is.

Well... stats have Liverpool as one of the best teams defensively..

Stats can be very misleading, celtic have the best defensive record in our league but their defence is fucking awful. I've watched a lot of Liverpools games due to the father-in-law supporting them.

That might be so, but they still have had the fewest goals scored against them. Their defence has improved a helluva lot.. I also watch them.

Their defence has improved since van dijk came in but it's still a weak point. Lovren is still a dreadful player, they still struggle with cross balls and dealing with attacks down the flanks in general.

They have improved massively since he came in. Lovren isnt great but he has also improved with a better defender next to him... he should be no more than backup though.

I'm not saying Liverpool are shite defensively, I'm saying it is a weak point and that Klopps system is working in spite of Liverpools defence rather than because of it.

Jammy bastard!!?With some signings, Arfield has signed today he could fit into that midfield or behind the striker.

Media latching onto a comment and spinning it already.

If Gerrard does decide to use klopps style as a template it would work in Scotland. Quick pace and aggressive pressing of the ball high up the pitch

It requires players with high levels of fitness, power and skill. Not a lot of that in our current sqaud so major rebuild needed
