How long have you supported the Rangers?

Recommended Posts

I’m 45, since I can remember, 5 years old.

my grandfather got me into Rangers, he says they were the club of our country.

he flew in Wellington bombers in the Second World War, and was a big I love being Scottish, but I’m British first.

his mentality was, since he was born in 1919, Rangers were a British club, he supported them as a child, he passed away in 1997 still supporting them,

he couldn’t understand anybody that supported celtic that hated the forces.

some of his best mates in the RAF were celtic fans, and during the years after the war he got very pissed off when their fans started hating the union, as he was convinced that the boys that he flew with during the war that supported celtic deserved better respect.

to this day my stepson, who is 24 now, realises why he supports this club since I got together with his mother when he 6 years old, what it stands for to thousands like my grandfather.

I still struggle with this one mate,  I've met a few too many who served their country and support IRA  fc,  disgusting

1 year, Morton for 35 years before that, mon the hoops

Are you one of the Easdales :pipe:  :mutley:

40 plus year a fan, my big brothers and my Dad were all Rangers supporters and it just felt good about the house ( this was 77/78 right enough :rangers: ) to be honest I was more of a staunch fan than an actual supporter ( as in non attender at games )  My first game was Rangers versus Aberdeen Scottish cup final, 1 all, then 3 - 1 after extra time :aberdeen:   Once I got married and the kids came along started to go regularly, then eventually season tickets, had all the kids to games and the wife can now be worse than me at games when it comes to verbals

I was a kid but was probably slightly later than most.

I never had a Dad that took me to Ibrox or Rangers games in all honesty so didn't have that pleasure.

He had a friend though who was a supervisor for a construction company who had a box and got a couple of away tickets for every game and he took me everyweek from the 1992-1993 season onwards ... it was a quick turnaround from me wanting to get to actually going ... I was about 9 I think and watching the Battle Of Britain vs Leeds in 1992 on TV and was hooked ... pretty soon after that I was getting to games.

My Dad was more of a Dumbarton fan than Rangers ... he used to have a passing interest in Rangers and when we spoke and were close we went through a phase of going to some cracking games together ... a few memorable wins at Tynecastle and Easter Road ... and some European away's too ... but he was never a proper supporter, used to enjoy himself, the atmosphere and the football and preferred Rangers over celtic but it kinda started and stopped there.

It was a simple question mate.

52 years, first game was at Hampden in the Scottish cup replay when Kia scored the winning goal. Hooked ever since. Stopped going regular in the late nineties however returned when we went down to division 3. Only pick the odd game now.

Good on you mate,  Supporting Rangers is something that  never leaves you,  the worst kind of cunts are turncoats,  I met a few in my time,  how they can jump the fucking dyke and support the filth is  simply beyond my understanding

Fantastic to see so many old bears here,  I'm the kind of cunt who can remember the transfer to the Centenary Stand.

You're just a wean. FFS I can remember standing in the Derry Shed, the guys outside selling the mikchocolatespearmintchewingum and Gammon rolls out of cardboard boxes with free salmonella. :mutley:
