mchammer 245
Well that is a joke is it not? At a disciplinary hearing today (Monday 23 July) a sub-committee of the SPFL Board charged Heart of Midlothian Football Club with playing an ineligible player (Andrew Irving) in their Betfred Cup group stage match against Cove Rangers FC on 18 July 2018. Heart of Midlothian admitted breaching SPFL Rules and were deducted two points from their Betfred Cup first-round group stage tally. The Club were also fined £10,000 (of which £8,000 was suspended until the end of season 2019/20).

CooperSF 5,792
It should be the full 3 points deducted and a 3-0 win awarded to Cove (and that's being lenient).
mchammer 245
Yep. What I thought and Cove get nothing from this so called punishment. Did it not used to be awarded 3-0 win to oposition side.

Do you think Hearts put a guy on the bench who they forgot to re-register for this season to give them an advantage to beat Cove Rangers all the while risking being disqualified from the cup for it. I really hope you do tbh.
harlands plater 16,974
I seem to remember something similar happened in a European game a couple of years back with a more severe punishment applied. gmcf

But, Cove Rangers should have been awarded a 3-0 win.

Yes as I'm not a paranoid conspiracy theorist. Stranraer fielded an inelible player in the same cup 2 years ago, won and the result stood with a fine. No one was up in arms then. Cove Rangers done the same last year and got a fine 1/5th the size Hearts got. No one is up in arms about that either. FSM
mchammer 245
Where did I say it was suspicous? I said it was a joke. I was not aware of the other teams doing similar.
