Exactly. Politicians have made "fenian" into a sectarian insult - the only folk who should be offended over bring called that are unionists, as it's (modern) meaning is rooted in Irish republicanism. There were Protestant republicans, just as there were Irish Catholic unionists. These bigoted politicians only encourage further ignorance about history.

The same type of folk harp on about William Wallace, and don't have a fucking clue about the wars of independence and who actually won Scotland independence. They just don't have a clue what they're on about, but know how to tap into bigotry and misconceptions.
