The Widow's Son 399
Many years ago, I attended a funeral in Scotland - paid my respects at the home of the deceased and his family were big bluenoses. There was a Rangers scarf in the coffin. The deceased also wore a lodge tie and a Rangers lapel badge a Just a quick question: does this still happen in auld Scotia? Somehow it seems to belong to a different age and yet it's comforting for us auld yins. Apologies beforehand if this brings up sad memories for anyone. Popular Post KaiserJon 12,392
My dad passed away and I did put his old scarf in the coffin the night before the service. It was a very old scarf, tattered to be honest, but just felt it was the right thing to do. My dad grew up not far from Ibrox and by the time me and my sister were born he was in England with us. Never moved back to Glasgow but he passed Rangers on to me. People sometimes remark that I have a BBC type of voice which is true but underneath that I have my Partick mums voice and my dads love of our club. He was a real star. His coffin was royal blue. The wreath was made from red white and blue flowers. His coffin also had his Black watch hackle on it. Even ma grandads funeral was staunch as fuck. ???? jintybear, mearns loyal, bob1873 and 15 others

Popular Post Copland bear 7,966
Yes my dad was cremated with my scarf rolled up next to his hand, walking to Ibrox the first time after the funeral was hard, especially when I remembered I needed a scarf. I went home at half time thou as it got too much for me emotionally as without my da I would probably be nowhere near Ibrox. . Now I do it with my son it's the most natural thing in the world. , 2 seasons now and the only games I have been at that he has not are the celtic games as once you take them once that's it they are hooked as they know what it means to us, and the wife is just glad of the break ? Popular Post lewislaudrup 845
My pal passed away in 2002 far to early for him and we put his scarf in with him. One of my other pals still carries his old travel club memebership card to every game as its got his picture on it. So he is no longer with us, but still goes to all the games with us, if that makes sense Copland bear, cstamomusa, WATP-FOREVER and 12 others

Popular Post ianferguson 2,619
My mum supported Rangers from the couch for 73 years but her influence produced 5 season ticket holding kids and two grandkids the same . When we went down the leagues she asked for a season ticket and a red and black scarf. Sadly she passed with cancer after one season but the joy she had from that year will be forever special to me . My sister and i along with our two kids picked her up every other Saturday and I've never seen her happier than she was in the family stand. The red and black scarf meant a lot to her and sadly she wore it one last time . WATP-FOREVER, CooperSF, Rangers#1 and 5 others
Davie Mr Magic Cooper 515
Proud to read some of the above posts. Very heartwarming as the many haters try and demean us at every turn as a support. You just know that they will never succeed. And to think some people say how can you be like that over what's described as just a game of football. They don't get it, they really don't.
