What the Austrian press had to say about last night..

You almost run out of words to describe the Scottish press sometimes.

we win a game against a decent side by three goals to one, coming from behind and it is almost like it doesn't count.

contrast that with other Scottish sides scorelines, even taking in Aberdeen and hibs in their brief sojourn in the Europa league and words like "brave", "spirited" are used even when they get pumped by pretty mediocre sides.

We are definitely judged by a different standard than the rest of Scottish football. The turnaround and changeover Gerrard has made in such a short time is nothing short of remarkable, and the whole squad should be praised for that. The away from isn't good, but that can be worked on.

glad that the English press are noticing the bad, lazy journalism up here. Scottish football should be embracing the publicity we as a club are attracting, and the fantastic run we have had in europe so far. Unbeaten in 10/11 games. That's an incredible record. Contrast that to the tims getting beaten again, and it's even acceptable for one of their players to come out and say they are used to it, and we get people like Delahunt saying they aren't impressed by the performance. Whatever happened to a win is a win. We were excellent for long phases of play that night.

I just hope we sort the away from out, go on a long run and put these bastards back in their place by winning the league. The tide is turning now. Long may it continue.

The thing is if Aberdeen , hibs or even celtic had beaten rapid Vienna 3-1 at home we could all begrudgingly admit that's a decent result despite despising all 3 teams. Rangers consumes so many people in this country. On Friday the celtic fans in my work spent more time fuming about our win and trying to downplay it rather than focus on their own loss the night before. Again yesterday rather than discuss their good result the previous day the chat all seemed to be how hearts lay down and our first goal should have been offside.

Yep,  there is too much energy put into degrading our club. The hatred is quite staggering.

if they concentrated on their own club and were honest then there would not be an issue. If we beat the Russians in our next game, we have a great chance of making it through, and that is an incredible achievement considering the struggles of the last 6/7 years.

Our win over Rapid and Hearts is talked down... while Taigs loss in Europe and win over StJ is talked up... (the same St. J we put 5 past)

The irony for me is that the media say Taigs are way better than us. Fine. They will always say that.

But in any other country, if poorer Team B does well they are praised highly for raising their game while Team A are questioned for losing.

If we are so bad, and so far behind Taigs, why arent we praised for winning any game, whether it be Rapid, Runcorn or Rutherglen Juniors.

The simple answer they hate us. They always have and they always will so long as there is educational apartheid in Scotland. Did the taigs do well to bounce back and put 6 by St. Johnstone, yes of course they did, but that's the difference between our fans and theirs. We can acknowledge when our rivals play well but we all know that it is very rare that they or their fans will do the same.
