With the form Candeias is in atm Grezda won't make the starting 11.

International break should give us a chance to arrange some bounce games for guys like Dorrans and Grezda to gain match fitness.

Barisic, Dorrans, MacAuley and Grezda not even in today’s squad

Don't forget Rossiter.

Going to be really tough for him to get in the team. Kent and Candeias are arguably our two best players just now.

Will have enough games to hopefully keep them both happy this season

It will take a year for all these boys to settle in properly in my opinion. He needs minutes which is the tricky bit when we are playing well but I fully expect him to be an integral part of the side towards the second half of the season

I'd assume he's a longer term replacement for Candeias. Whilst DC has been superb over the last few games, he is 30 now and his pace which is one of his best assets, will begin to diminish. I'm not worried and when he gets up to match sharpness we will have another decent player on our hands.

I just assumed they wouldn't have called him up given he's not played much. That's mental.

The Albanian manager rates Grezda very highly.  He said Grezda could've gone to a better standard of league rather than joining us or words to that effect.  The Albanian managers comments aside, It does seem like everyone who has worked with Grezda rates him so there's got to be a player there.

Grezda was signed to compete with Kent and Candeias for those wide attacking roles.  Kent might not even be here next season so we don't know what the picture will be like long-term.

I don't doubt his quality - just think it'd be better to let him focus on regaining fitness and getting into our starting XI at this time. If he gets some time on the pitch for Albania and improves his match fitness then fair enough, but if he doesn't it's a waste as he'd have taken part in bounce games for us to get up to speed.

Hopefully get him fit for the semi final I think he’s our best option up front with Lafferty and Morelos out

Excellent. I was starting to worry that he might be another Pena or Sadiq-esque turkey but I’m looking forward to seeing him play.

not risking injury and keeping him in cold storage to be unleashed in the semi with kent and middleton as his 'wing men'

I’m not in the slightlest bit worried. He had surgery in June and since he signed the talk was how he basically had to do his pre-season with us and then get match sharp.

Kent and Candeias have both been excillent lately. Let them keep doing that.

Then when inevitably one gets injured/suspended/tired/loses form we will effectively have a new signing fit and ready to hit the ground running.

Smart management by Gerrard instead of rushing him back!

We now have a couple of weeks off to work on his fitness , so SG probably wasn't risking a set back in what was obviously going to be a physical game against Hearts . Good management imo .

Christ, sounds like he's dead and buried then!  The boy has pace to burn and it's not just going to fall away because he's turned 30...

I didn't mean he's going to slow down soon. It was more looking far longer term.

He's 31 is he not? He's fucked , won't last the season out .    I fucked up. Not 31 till February. Still 4 and a half months till he's past it
