Lafferty pulls out of NI squad

Recommended Posts

See that Lafferty has pulled out of the squad for NI next 2 matches. The more players we have pulling out the better.

Hopefully Katic and Barisic are not seriously injured and McGregor picks up a mystery illness or strain and doesn't play for Scotland.

I don't know what to think

That bastard is half the reason I pulled out of supporting NI

They're all better off when playing with us anyway.  Scotland are a dud team and their fans are no better.  At least they have majority respect from our fans.

Unusual one as no reason given. No apparent injury.

Possibly feels that playing with Rangers is more beneficial given our Europa success so far?

He could be doing with the minutes.

Gerrard did say he was going to arrange a closed doors game to help build up fitness levels so maybe he'll get minutes there.

Yep. Doesn’t look totally fit. If only we could cross the Ulster Gazelle with the Nigerian Giraffe.

I’ve noticed Barasic has pulled out the Croatian squad with injury.

Quite glad really.

Gives Gerrard some actual time with the majority of the squad now. Can hopefully drill into some detail, rather than just game prep - game - rest - game prep that we’ve been doing since the first qualifier near enough.

Let's face it, international football is finished and most players would rather protect themselves from prancing about for their country and potentially getting a career ending injury, the real money is in club football, gone are the days when playing for your country was held in awe by players and even fans, I can't remember the last time I got excited at an International game , I did watch England in the World Cup but even then, the game at that level has simply lost something it probably won't ever reclaim, we can thank the likes of Sky tv for sounding the death knell for International football.

You’re softening, I can tell.

Wrong, but I'm counting that as a bite

Apparently Northern Ireland are invoking a FIFA rule to stop Lafferty playing against Hamilton on Sunday.

Just read that. Seems pretty ridiculous if you ask me. For all we know he could have a legitimate reason not to play for Northern Ireland.

Awaiting Scotland doing the same for the thumb...
