Lack of winners?

Fair enough. Maybe they're a few clubs short of official journeyman status but Coldsons age and weakness could see him make the cut by the time he's 35.

I think that's how most people would describe a journeyman tbf.

Calling Arfield a journeyman when he's played for 4 clubs in a career that's lasted over 11 years is one of the most bizarre things I've read on here.

Falkirk where he was average to Huddersfield in League 1 and Championship where he was average, Burnley where he was decent for a season and then back to SPL to us. No Scotland call up so opted to play for Canada.

Shrewsbury where he played over one HUNDRED games,  Cheltenham on loan, Brighton where he played less than FORTY times in 3 years, then up to SPL to play for us. No international recognition at any age group.

On what planet are they anything other than the careers of journeymen?

More delusion from our fans. Our results are up and down, mostly down lately, because we don't have very good players.

Fans wildly overrate very average players and then can't understand why they can't consistently get results.

Already been covered by other posters but aye, that's not what a journeyman is.

Yeah fair enough. Not journeymen. Just poor players. Especially Arfield scurrying about Steven Naismith style, like a little gerbal but with even less ability than Naismith and an alarming inability to pass forward. Dreadful signing. No better than all of the other ineffectual midfielders we've had over the last 3 or 4 years.

Spartak killed a good 25 minutes last night from buying silly fouls & playing smart, we don't have the players with the experience to do that.

The players we would need to buy to fill it full of "winners" would bankrupt the club. People need to reel in their sense of entitlement as fans and accept this as a work in progress. Gerrard was never going to turn it around after 1 season nevermind 1 transfer window.

Can't disagree with you on Arfield. He's absolutely horrible to watch.

Disagree, we are a bog standard middle of the table spl team with journeymen and loan players

hence the defeats by shite like Aberdeen, Livingston and shipping 3 goals to a pathetic Motherwell side, failing to beat a spartak

side who had 7 men missing from the ibrox game, can't buy a win at home and score 4 against us

You could argue alot of these points happened because of a lack of leadership.

I see your point but I think they are better than what they are giving us and the common denomonator is lack of leadership

For me the biggest problem was the lack of experience of playing at a European level. Couldn't dictate the pace on the three occasions we were in the lead. Ejira and Coulibally being the biggest culprits constantly being caught in possession as they were always wanting the extra touch.

Thats 5 and they all started v Aberdeen. Shouldn’t have that many loan players in the squad let alone a starting XI if you want to build a team.

Agree with you here, nearly 50% of Team not permanently employed by the club.

Will only take you so far.

Yep.

We are seriously lacking in any form of gamesmanship on the park.

Another player heralded as a potential star because he played in the overrated shit-pit of the EPL.

Some people never learn.

Mate if you think playing 31 times last season and signing a 3 1/2 year extension isn’t an investment of forests behalf then you are a mongo

Yes they have "spent money" on him in terms of wages; but that could be said of any pro-footballer.

You conveniently ignore the part about them not being a premier league team. It's ok though, you seem very angry and confused.

Most of this squad have a decent level of ability however they lack the mental fortitude to win week in and week out. The belief that when they cross that white line that  they are better than than their opponent is the reason most of them have and never will get anywhere better than us.

For me we are all enraged about the last 4 odd games because SG and the squad have set the standard of expectation so high with early season performances.

Consistency across the park is lacking and consistent ruthlessness infront of goal is missing.

I'd argue the midfield has been consistently bad so far this season and is a real problem. There's been a few games where Jack, Coulibaly or Ejaria have put in a performance but other than that the whole midfield just disappears. Alfredo is continually isolated and any decent attacking play is usually from the flanks. Priority in the next window has to be midfielders who can create and dictate the play, taking the pressure off of the defence and making it harder for opponents who just need to shut down the flanks atm.

Mediocrity is being embraced at our club now we will always stay losers if we continue to waste money on shite with better players you get more consistency we have youth players and loans and defenders who could not make average teams in England.

As soon as we got in this League we should have bought three or four quality players every season we never we gambled on players who at one time had been good hoping they would recapture that form and with that we have wasted some amount of money on shite.

This is not just a Gerrard problem its been going on since we have been in this league under this board.

Agreed. If we’d have added 4 real quality players when we got promoted and did this every season we’d be in far far better shape.  3 summers of getting as many new players in whilst spending as little as possible gets us no where.   Hopefully last summer was the last in player turn over and we can add quality rather than quantity.

Its alright folks saying we out spend Aberdeen and hearts but it took the tims to spend 9 million on quite an average striker.  9 million to spend on a full squad doesn’t buy you much quality at all, much rather 3 players instead.

Spot on and only McGregor has actually won anything in the squad that started last night. Getting the odd loan in is fine if its a genuine step up in quality however the majority we have had in have been no where near that.

A lot of the squad have not even played in a cup final.

We really must stop bringing in young inexperienced loan players to give them game time and develop them for another club.Any loans coming in must have experience and be able to command a first team spot. The pressure playing for Rangers is just too much for them.
