Popular Post tannerall 25,935
Back in the 60s and up till 1971, and before, there was always a Christmas Day game if it fell on the right day. Can remember trudging through the sludge with my dad and uncle many a time, frozen fingers and toes, the blue, white and red tammy my nan had knitted worn proudly, but warm with the excitement of going to see the Rangers. My dad with the wee half bottle of sherry in his inside pocket to ward of hpothermia on the terrace. The big one was of course the New Year game, but the week before the schedule would usually give us Hibs home or away, whilst Hearts played the East End mob. So the last week of the year was usually an extra special week. And we won the last Christmas Day fixture we played1-0 at Easter Road. We used to go to the pantomime on Christmas day back then too, and the buses would run too, seldom took fares, but we would slip them cans of beer as a thankyou, to have later. Right up there with the day at Easter Road in 75 when we won the title with a Stein goal. siddiqi_drinker and BlueAvenger
