The Tide Has Finally Turned.

Yes, after almost 8 years, the tide has finally turned.

And it wasn't just a tide, it was a fucking tsunami. An unexpected yet totally  enormous force that pushed us right to the edge of existence. And what is nowadays colloquially called "the journey" was no straightforward journey, but a whirlpool path that pitted ourselves against bitter enemies stopping us moving forward or sideways, and always stabbing us in the back.

2011 had been a good year for us.  In March a Jelavic inspired victory  against the tims in the league cup final led on to a 5-1 victory at Kilmarnock in May for our third title in a row. .With expectations high, new manager Ally McCoist  went 15 games unbeaten leading in to 2012.

But then in Feb 2012 came the shock. Administration. And what followed was worse than any reasonable Gers fan could have imagined.  The distancing from us and increasing jealous hatred being expressed by a majority of fellow clubs, many of whom we had helped in the past. The organised contempt and punishments dished out by the football administrations. The humillties of corrupt ownership by robbers and charlatans, the threats of title stripping.  Then the politics against us within the football authorities, city council and national Government.

We were inches from  being destroyed by corrupt and self seeking political interests, all the way from the SFA and SPL administrations through corrupt city councils to the those most influential at the the top of nationalistic and socialist elite. (Oh. the irony of a Scottish national socialist elite, how fitting it is many within of them prefer a football team with a support that favours the Palestinian and Irish causes over British ones......)

I strongly believe there was just one thing that saved us. And that one thing was a constant that could not be challenged or threatened, even destroyed, and would never surrender or allow our club to die.......our magnificent support.

8 stormy years we have had, and during that time our mainstay was the fans, fans who have waited and waited for the time when we are strong enough to fight back and then march onward and upward with renewed belief and confidence.

Now as we step onward in  2019, almost 8 horrible years since administration, we are no longer the threatened, or the underdogs, we are confident again.  We now have our best foot forward and our haters are the threatened ones

The tide has indeed finally turned, and we look forward to sailing toward our future success, but most importantly........... we know our magnificent support is invincible to any storm.   Full steam ahead........

.... And all of Gods people said Amen 👍

Some of the high posters on here really are seriously miserable harry hunts 😀

Have a bit positivity in your lives ffs. In our journey years I've lost my ST, love, mum, dad, friends, job outsourced (multiple times), money, health and opportunity.  But I know my best years are to come, 55 will be sooner than never and the mother of all bitch slaps hasn't even started yet.

Think every cunt needs to calm down.  I'll tell you if the tide has turned in May.

the first 4 league games after the break are crucial  we have livi killie and the sheep away they have 3 winnable home games

if we can get 12 pts from these games  then the battle is on. hopefully a goal scorer like defeo can make the difference in a tight game

I understand what @tannerall is saying and especially about the fans, that is certainly true, but I cannot start thinking about the tide being turned until 55 is achieved. If that makes be a grumpy old git then so be it, I just do not want to tempt fate in any way.

Certainly beating them was something that had to be done and was fantastic, but just because we seem to be getting in some players who should improve our chances of winning the league, they will strengthen as well I am sure.

Still one game at at time for me when we start back.

Here's hoping the players can maintain that level of performance in our next 2 games which look tricky. Separate Entity FC have 3 easy games coming up.

I really hope so mate, they showed they can play on Sat and we need, as you say the players to keep that up. Fingers crossed 🤞

All said and done we most definitely have much to look forward to.

It's simple, we are competing and are challenging. There is a feel good with Gerrard, of that I have no doubt. He has lfted the dark cloud that was hanging over us.

Being the fan base that we are, with all the frustrations of the recent past, we are desperate to be top dog again. We are always one loss away from suicide watch, such has been the trials of our recent journey.

Despite all my rantings of the ghosts of xmas past, just maybe this board are getting it right. As much as Gerrard is a rookie, he's mighty fucking impressive, including with his mistakes and indeed the appointment does look to be a master stroke. It wasn't just luck. The leader in him is obvious, but he has brought professionalisn and high standards and such a professional back room staff with him. Ordinary players under him ARE seriously fuckng improving. His name alone carries weight and his word is getting through. I never thought this squad could ever turn in a performance like that against the so called best in the land.

We now sign quality in Defoe to up the challenge. This man is not coming cheap. The board smell blood and they are backing the manager. Next up Davis. More quality and again will not be cheap. Both short term signings, but all about taking that title and stopping ten. They are known quantities and what is needed, as opposed to more young uns with potential and little guarantee of how they will turn out. The risk of failure is lessened.

Let the board get on with their job in finding investment and balancing the books and let the man that is Stevie G have the players do their talking on the park. I smell blood and the spoils of victory and I doubt we will be disappointed.

Good post OP .... positive and hopeful ..... feelings that have been here before ... but only seem to be serious now this season .... with the introduction of SG and his backroom team.

.... 90 mins away from the KO stages of the EL.

.... as close as we have been to the scum since we arrived back at the top table .... after one of the finest team performances in many a decade that saw us demolish them completely.

.... now a top signing in Defoe arriving this month that has almost all of us believing we have a chance of putting more of the goal opportunities we create over the line ... increasing our hope.

What's not to be positive and hopeful about ? .... the tide is turning no one can deny that .... this could be our season to lift the title and I hope it is.

Can't blame people for being sceptical .... same as you can't blame people for believing it will happen ... each to their own.

It just feels different this time .... seriously different ... as said above .... one game at a time with the determination shown against the scum and anything is possible.

For the first time in a long time it really is within our reach .... just maybe this will be our season.

The long and the short is ultimately,we..the people will drive us over the line..the thick and the thin, the long and the short is we can actually do it this year and we are in the best possible position to do so,building from a position stronger than we've been for years. This cannot be done without us however,we,to a man, need to keep the faith, the faith in this thing Mr Gerrard is building, which is looking better day by day. There are few managers in the game these days who command such respect (despite his fledgling career to date) and as long as he respects us,we should give that back ten fold,as we invariably do.

Now is not the time to blink

I’m all about the positivity, I’m that positive I once suggested Pena might get off the swally and become a player!

We’ve has more false dawns than I care to remember and we’ve just had our 1st win against sceptic since the cup semi so I’m going to simmer down and wait till the end of the season to pass judgment.

This.

It's an extra three points, after dropping 4 which should have been 6 against Hibs.

Buzzing after beating them, but it will be redundant unless we finish in top at the end of the season.

To be fair to the op though, it's not as bad as the thread asking if the journey was finally over after beating Hearts to get to the top of the league a month ago.
