Tav scores the penalty we're through, just one of those games today playing against 10 men behind the wall.

Shows how badly we miss Morelos as well.

Morelos wouldnt have done anything today , we created nothing in that midfield........

That was brutal.

Not a lot of quality coming from midfield. We are still lacking quality in centre mid. Davis may be the answer, but 5 minute cameo appearances will do nothing. Drastic in the final third. Shot shy in front of goal and Defoe cannot play as a lone striker.

The timing of Gerrard's sub's remains fucking awful. Lafferty should have been on early second half to either play alongside Defoe or to replace him.

No apologies, Tav had a fucking mare. Ran his heart out, but decision making was poor as was his passing and never let him near a dead ball again.

McCrorie, Candieas, Halliday solid.

High balls into the box just won't do.

On the plus side, that was their cup final and we will shred them at Ibrox.

Halliday was just as poor in possession as Tav but they both defended well along with Goldson and Worral.

2 subs on at 83 and 87 mins was a fuckin joke , should have been made 5-10 mins into second half.......

Agree they should have been done earlier.....wrong subs too imo. Davis maybe, but certainly Middleton should have been on. Against a tiring Broadfoot....no brainer!

So would one of the CB's but they'd still be just as chronic mate c'mon to fuck.

Get the ball down and play a bit. We looked at our best tonight in the very small periods where we got it down and knocked it around.

Not for me. It’s not a surface that lends well to trying to get the ball down to play. We seen that the last time we played there. Go direct get a lead, battle to the victory and get the fuck out of there.

Runs down everything though, and tends to be part of the build up to goals.

Defoe plays far too central to have the sort of impact Morelos does imo

He's our outball, he would've bullied their defence today.

Morelos plays well and we win more often than not, Defoe can't play up front on his own.

Can see us switching it up next weekend with Lafferty and Defoe up top, should be enough to beat St Johnstone.

Canny argue with that tbh. The pitch is horrendous. I just think playing Lafferty is as big a punt as playing Defoe tbh. For a guy that's well, well over 6 foot tall Lafferty is brutal in the air and even worse back to goal.

So.   Is it realistic to think that after all the talk we've had from SG about needing to make sure we start games correctly and have the mentality to win the individual battles and to impose our game on the opposition that yet again, yet again, there is an abject failure to do so?

Why is that?   He can't keep saying that sort of thing then every other game we see the team shrinking back into a shell and refusing to step up through the gears.

Or was this game about money?  About both sides conveniently playing out a turd-like draw so that gate receipts (and TV money) are generated from a replay.    I'm not too serious with that suggestion as if there were any shred of reality in it then there would be trouble.   But the thing is it seemed to be a collective team effort to play so badly and (it seemed) not really be trying all that hard to score.    A very convenient draw with all to play for and with some more money to be made in doing so.

Will be very interested to hear what SG has to say after this game.   More of the same 'not good enough' type of comment will not be good enough.

He played not to lose a goal again and it worked. More money to pay the fines once we release a statement about refs.

If that's the rule then yes, Alfie (and most likely McGregor) will miss St. Johnstone at home and the replay and be back for Hamilton.

I read the next two match ban MUST be in league matches. Was in the paper today, and even said he’d be free for a replay

Morelos and Rangers failed to win the challenge against a red card shown to the Colombian in Wednesday’s 4-2 win against Aberdeen.

The Ibrox ace is now banned for tonight’s Scottish Cup clash at Kilmarnock as well as the league clash with St Johnstone on February 17.

The third match of the three-game ban must be served in the league which means he could play in any cup replay against Killie. Instead he is poised to miss a league clash with Hamilton.

Simply can't play with Defoe in the middle of a front 3, he doesn't suit our style at all, felt Lafferty would've offered much much more in there and did in the 5 minutes he got

We've either got to change the shape to accommodate Defoe (not the right option in my opinion) or accept that he's a square peg in a round hole & should only be used as an impact sub

I think it could help get Defoe involved more in the game if it pushes the play up the park, worth considering as a plan B at least because the service and chances were just not there for Defoe tonight and its a big ask to expect 1 chance, 1 goal every time.

Agreed mate. Lafferty can hold the ball up, we missed that tonight from Mo.
