Defoe was playing against quality professionals, not hammer thowers and against teams who didn't have ten men behind the ball. Defoe doesn't have the brute strength of Morelos, but he has guile and great technical ability. The midfield have to step up to support the Defoe style of play and that is getting the ball to him quicker. No long protracted build up play giving the oppo time to rebuild the Berlin wall.
