A Hibs fan has admitted breach of the peace after confronting Rangers captain James Tavernier during the teams' Premiership meeting on Friday.

Cameron Mack, 21, climbed over the advertising hoarding at Easter Road and kicked the ball away from the defender.

He pleaded guilty to breach of the peace at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday and will be sentenced next month. He was banned from all football matches in Scotland.

Mack, from Port Seton, admitted acting in a disorderly manner, kicking the ball away, approaching Tavernier and acting in aggressive manner.

The court heard both men pushed each other several times before a steward and police intervened.

Defence solicitor Stuart Carson said his client had no previous convictions and asked for bail.

Sheriff Adrian Cottam agreed to the request, but said: "The nature of the offence has caused a lot of discussion and concern and is a serious matter."

The Premiership match on Friday night finished 1-1.

Why is this classed as a breach of the peace charge?

This sort of behaviour is vandalising Scottish football and needs to stop before someone gets seriously hurt.

When the spoon burners came on a Hampden, one who was arrested was let out and attended there parade in Edinburgh.

That whole day let the younger fans think they can get away with anything .A generation of Neds now think is open season on misbehaving at football games

Thankfully we have only had the one penis brain at Livvy .A guy that let our whole support and club down massively

It will only take one or two more to really turn all the focus back onto us and quickly away from the others

thought the other thread says he got 100 days -confused!!

A Hibernian fan who confronted Rangers captain James Tavernier at the side of the pitch during a game has been jailed for 100 days.

Cameron Mack from Port Seton, East Lothian was also banned from attending Scottish football matches for 10 years.

He pled guilty to breach of the peace after the incident at Hibs' Easter Road stadium last month.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard the 22-year-old has apologised to the player and both clubs.

His lawyer told the court he has since received death threats because of his actions.

Mack kicked the ball away before the confrontation with the Rangers defender.

Telling you one of these cunts is going to come on with a knife sooner or later.

Well a Hearts fan got in with a fucking coconut ffs,.

Blame your courts and goverment as if they hammered Motherwell in the play offs and jailed fans for goading Rangers fans after the game then the following year the Hibs fans would not have invaded the park in the final against the following year

Again the last old firm game they had a mini invasion when they scored the first yet nothing said or done ,  now if we do like wise at Ibrox on May 12th watch the media go into meltdiwn demanding fans are banned

That's okay then he apologised,  no place in football grounds for cunts like him,  yes you abuse players and try and put them off their game but you never I repeat never leave the stands as once you do there is no excuse.

The guy has been hammered for a crime which was not as bad as Motherwell and Hibs fans trying to goad Rangers fans for a full scale pitch battle, which if would have happened we would have been blamed twice.

Can you imagine the out cry that would have caused.

He would have hit a disabled kid in a wheelchair according to our media, they would want the SFA to ban him and the courts to charge hiim,  that would be the outcome after a campaign against us once again by cunts  who never go near a football ground.  So that narrows it down to snp supporters or catholic snp supporters.

Yes that is for sure, I just keep hoping that it is other teams fans who do this shite because the media must be raging they have not been able to include us since the boy hit the linesman with a coin, which was nuts.

Never heard of it again and the answer is probably nothing.

I hope we (Rangers) are keeping a list of all these incidents that were against us. :hmmm:

Meanwhile the mhedia up here have that retard Brown condemning fans encroaching on the pitch and going for players, while him and his wee pal Griffiths are more guilty of provoking opposition fans than anyone else has ever been.

A lot like the viddy report w/ Morgan and Jones, tbh - more than a bit of irony there. I had to have a laugh at Vinnie Jones crying crocodile tears when he was one of the biggest cunts to ever set foot on a pitch.
