Our Very Average Centre Backs And Lacklustre Midfield Journeymen.....

......are the problem.

Throughout our central defence and midfield for most of the season there has been no real strength, great ability or character. No-one willing to step up an grab big games by the balls (exception Jack in the Old Firm game), basically just journeymen. (No wonder the relatively inexperienced but more naturally able Katic and Kamara impressed so much to begin with)

Midfield ? How many of our midfielders have strung together 2 or 3 decent games in a row this season, how often has our midfield been negated easily. And how often do you even see them wanting the ball, or running off each other to make space for a pass. Totally static. We're managed by two of the greatest midfield players the country has seen, you'd never guess it watching our middle lot toil.

Defence ? Goldson, came in a s a solid centre back, but is now struggling to impress, confidence shot. When given the ball to his feet, you can almost hear him thinking, now what do I do with it, not allowed to punt it, but I'm not great at passing, by which time any potential move forward has gone.  Worral ? Actually looking a bit more settled, but hasn't yet got the presence and physicality for a great centre half.

The rest  ? We've got a good goalie. Left back still a bit of a problem , maybe Barisic will come through, or we''ll just bring in another one.   Majority of our attacking play goes down the wings with Kent, Tavernier and Candeias. Up front we've scored plenty and created many (missed to many too), enough to have won most games with a more solid midfield and central defence.

Totally disagree.  Our defence, despite being shaky at times have been pretty solid but not spectacular as have out full backs to an extent.

Formation we play relies in a very functional midfield however that offers very little creativity and that's where we come to the attack.

For me morelos goals aside the wide players let us down very badly and is the sole reason we are the team we are and not too or close to top atm.  Both Kent and candeias offer nowhere near what we need in terms of goals and sadly that's what we need them to be doing.

No idea what’s happened to Goldson but he’s fucking shit

Gets the ball and doesn’t have a fucking clue what he wants to do, takes wee tippy tappy steps forward or waves his arms about before a square ball to Worrall. Either play a decisive pass or stride into the fucking space with some confidence

On the same night we held a minute silence for a great man like Eric Caldow who would’ve ran through a brick wall for this club that was one of the most pathetic performances I’ve ever seen.

Have slated the guy all year but only Worrall looked like he wanted to win tonight

Goldson doesn't know what to do with the ball and passes to Tav or a very deep Jack coming back to take it off him. We need an Amaruso or Bougherra who will carry the ball forward when nothing is on. This will create spaces and bring defensive teams out of their shell. We are far too easy to defend against.

None of our midfielders are journeymen.

They were tonight.......and most of the season, an inability to stop teams like Kilmarnock and Hibs nicking points suggests this too. As for the performances against Aberdeen, too easily muscled out and don't show any creativity beyond average.  Without McGregor's saves and Morelos goals we'd be mid table.

Out of curiosity (can't be arsed checking) , how many goals out of the total has our midfield scored this season ? Probably been outscored by one lone attacker and a right back

The problem is we are far too reliant on morelos to carry the team in terms of goals.

Defoe won't get the space to make him effective unless a team opens up and Lafferty is fucking pathetic. We should have bought a battering ram of a striker for games like tonight.

In terms of out wide I think you are spot on candias and Kent don't offer enough in terms of goals and more often than not their end product is poor.

Midfield we have too many similar holding players and 1 half decent acm in arfield(when fit). Davis is absolutely finished. Pulled out another 50/50 challenge as well. Utter shite bag

Morelos goals have been against utter dug shite. Grateful for them, but he is also part of the problem and he was fucking embarassing out there tonight. McKenna yet again had him in his back pocket.

I just mean they aren’t journeymen in the footballing term.

Ryan jack, Kamara and Arfield aren’t creative enough to play together but then at the same time McCrorie, Davis and Coulibally aren’t exactly creative either.

Not one of our midfield can be described as a journeyman.

A coward of a left back, and right back. A shite journeyman winger, and a fucking moron at times upfront. There’s your problem

I don’t understand why people are saying Tavernier is a coward. Constantly wants the ball no matter the score constantly tries to make something. Do you want him to be going through smashing cunts constantly? He’s not that type of player. Calling him a coward based on absolutely nothing is wild though.

I’d rather he fucked off tbh

It’s true. A lot of posters don’t agree he goes missing in big games and when he doesn’t he gets sent off.

The boy needs to score in the big games. The last two matches have put to bed any notion he’s a £15-£20m striker atm. He’s young and will improve.

But his goal record is no better than Boyce, Daly or Moult. What made them low transfer fees was the fact they didn’t cut it in the big games.

Hope he scores a Hat-trick against Korea and proves me wrong
