In the process, he has to contend with defenders who are quite happy to dish it out to him and Morelos is quite happy to fight his corner and give back as good as he gets. It is on record that the press and opposition players think his temperament is suspect and the way to get the better of him is to rile him and needle him to get a reaction. The riling and needling is all an accepted part of the Scottish game, we are told, so the wee man takes quite a bit of abuse. First game of the season, he is barged aggressively in the back twice by McKenna and has a fly kick back at him in retaliation which leads to him being sent off. He is subsequently pilloried for his reaction in the press and on here. Against Ayr, he is scythed down in a tackle which the referee ignores. He is booked for having a go at the referee. He is subsequently pilloried in the press and on here. Probably on the advice of our management, rather than reacting to challenges he is now falling down looking for the foul (albeit more theatrically than necessary, not unusual for foreign and particularly South American players). He is now pilloried again on here (and likely in the press). Im not saying Morelos is without his faults and doesn’t have a lot still too learn but for a young lad who fights a loan battle up front most weeks, how about cutting him some slack. Don’t think he had a particularly good game last night but having watched it back again this afternoon, he was still our best player by a mile imo. We should certainly appeal it only if to highlight the ref got it wrong.
