Rangers TV’s Tom Miller revealed talent spotter’s return

He returned in 2007 with Walter Smith before quitting for Norwich three years later.

The veteran talent spotter identified several future stars during his Rangers stints, including Lorenzo Amoruso, Marco Negri, Claudio Reyna, Jean-Alain Boumsong and Steven Davis.

Miller, speaking on Rock Sport, says director of football Mark Allen has called on Chester’s expertise in recent times.

He said: “Mark Allen inherited zero by way of a recruitment or scouting department."

"He had that to put in place."

“He immediately turned to a Rangers legend in John Brown who had done that work before in the days of Walter Smith.

“He’s since got Ewan Chester involved."

“Ewan Chester is the guy who has been chief scout for Fulham, Brighton and Birmingham in recent seasons."

“He was twice chief scout at Rangers, many years ago."

“He knows the game inside out, who the movers and shakers are when you’re looking to get loan players or sign players permanently. So Ewan’s involved as well.”

Don’t see how this is a bad thing. Knows the club inside out and is vastly experienced.

Interesting that we are being linked with so many SPFL players now though because that seems to be a market that he keeps a close eye on. There’s a string of players who have played up here at some point who end up at clubs he’s involved at.

We should be recruiting John Park, the ex scum scout, before he ends up back there again.

I’m not sure why we’ve never brought him here.  He’s a Rangers fan and wants to work with us. It seems like we’ve never opened the door to him it’s crazy.

His record seems impressive. To the scum's benefit if he's rejoining them.

We just love bringing someone back to the club, don't we?

We're stuck in the past aren't we?

Either that or face up to the horrors of them getting 9 trophies in a row, coasting to 9iar and looking strong for 10iar. All whilst our head man tells us we're a bawhair from dominance.

Honestly don’t see how anybody can have a problem with this.

Playing for us is about character as much as it’s about ability and even if some didn’t hit the mark I think the overall success we had during his time here shows that he clearly has a decent eye for a player with the talent, and maybe more importantly, the character required to do well for us.

He just never shuts up, he has to fill every silence with some pish story, a shout out to a Rangers fan he talks to on twitter or to make a shite joke.

 Then you have Lovenkrands commentating alongside him with his weird Pakistani-highlighted Scottish accent

The sun have pulled this story from their site it seems and the Birmingham Mail are reporting that there has been no contact between us and Chester.

Shows how shite journalism is these days.

One dropped line in an interview or a podcast or a spat on Twitter with somebody else and it’s treated as factual big news fact and a story is run hours later.

Call me old fashioned but the old time journalists - people who had to go out and graft like fuck for their stories - must cringe like fuck at the shit that gets passed off as news these days.
