Popular Post Broxi 11,478
There's been some question marks this season, has been saved by the Europa League success? Is he really any better than Warburton/Pedro was? But I think those can be put to bed now, he seems like the man to take us forward. This season hasn't been perfect and we should have made a better title challenge but I think the improvement is now clear. - Finished 3rd the last 2 seasons, now we're in 2nd place by 24 points. Huge huge difference. It is now firmly a top 2 again in Scotland. - Top scorers in the league this season and last season, but last season we conceded 50 goals, this season only 25. - 29 points off them, then 12 points off them, now only 6 points off. - Immense European improvement. From getting knocked out in the first qualifying round to minnows to feeling hard done by not making it to the knockout rounds. - No Old Firm wins before this season and Gerrard has now won 2 in his first season. - Not along ago there was a huge thing about us not winning 3 games in a row, we're currently on a 6 game winning streak. - Big increase in player assets. Something I had been thinking about for the last couple seasons is a lack of value in the squad, other than Morelos and Tavernier. Both of those have increased even further and now we have Goldson, Katic, Kamara and Jack who are all young and values increasing. Even Arfield in his 30s is being linked with big money moves. Also other players with potential if they can make it in McCrorie, Jones, Middleton and maybe Barisic As said, it's not been a great season, but definitely significant improvement. We should have done better in the cups and in the league but it's Gerrard's first season and if recent signs are to be believed we are starting to really click and find some consistency. Hopefully a few extra additions and lessons learned and we'll be ready to go next season. Perth_Campsie_Ger 17,994
"The League has not been lost on old firms" He knows where we went wrong and what needs to improve. Much better to hear that than "plan B is that we must do plan A better" Next season can't come quick enough
adam2102 577
It was an interesting choice of words in the post-match interview. He talked about Rangers losing the league, rather than celtic winning it. Subtle difference but important imo. sausagetrunks, delparlane and theredhandofNewcastle
Popular Post BlueSuedeSambas 53,771
I think a lot of us overlook the fact that it’s his first season in management too. He will have learned a lot from this season and if he takes that and can apply it next season then we are only going to get better To me he’s the closet thing we’ve had to a Walter Smith since Walter Smith and for me Smith will always be the benchmark of what a Rangers manager should strive to be. ritchieshearercaldow 22,137
Hopefully he gets the budget and players he wants Thought I heard him say he had spoken with the chairman and he’s happy with the progress BlueAvenger and surfsup2
KingKirk 25,631
I have to eat humble pie around the begging of the year I started to doubt him. No more we are such a well drilled outfit. We need the board to back him big and get 3/4 quality players he's spoke about needing. Brian Fantana 28,894
Doubted him., always will until we are consistently destroying teams. Today showed he has the makings of a manager, needs to install discipline though.

born a blue nose 90,750
A very good attribute is that he gets our players right up for the biggest games of the season. Could be a passion thing, not sure but very welcome. Lots of things to improve, but I have absolutely every faith in him to do so. hammer93 15,056
The improvement has been clear as day although certain doubters will point to a trophyless season...we all want success and for me this season was a learning curve to next season which I believe will be special beararse and surfsup2
BillyG91 5,512
first season as manager and he's improved us. group stages of europe - if you told me we'd get that far at the start of the season i'd have laughed at you. winning 2 home games against the scum. other than that only time we beat them since 24th March 2012 was in 2016 when it came to penalties. 6 points behind them and at worst 9 points. closer than we were in 11/12 season even if you don't count the 10 point deduction. we need to keep improving. if we managed to put more consistent runs together then we'll easily take the title off them. there really is no gap any more. the title has come down to just 2 games as of right now and if we lose against kilmarnock then just 3 games. if we didn't drop points against diddy teams like motherwell, dundee, st johnstone then who knows what could've happened. Siam69 26,872
The improvements are there for all to see, only cunts like @backup will decide not to see them. And I say that as someone who wasn't happy with his appointment at the time. Though we have to win silverwear next season, no excuses. scott12003 711
i think everyone sees improvement in not just the team but the club overall cut out the silly results we are going places
KingKirk 25,631
Gerrard just told the press. Our challenge is to find that level more consistently and for a longer period of time and in cups. Cause that level beats them!

Goianegra 4,682
We've made more progress this year under Stevie than Ally, Murty and Pedro combined. He IS the man to take us forward and bring home 55.
TMB 14,167
I thought it was a big mistake putting another rookie manager in charge. I’ve been delighted with the 4-3-3 high pressing system Gerrard has used since he’s game here. He has a very modern approach to formations and tactics. I also like that he goes after big physical players. If he gets money to spend this summer we could turn in to a formidable side. Fingers crossed we do the right business in the transfer market. simplythebest 11,453
He's got plenty of work to do but after a succession of embarrassments in the dug out it feels like we finally have someone with a plan and worthy of respect Earned the opportunity next season but needs to deliver

TopCat 4,511
Good post from the OP. Stevie Gerrard has definitely improved us already this season and I reckon he will lead us to 55 next season with 3 or 4 quality players added to the squad.. The guy is an out and out winner ......and I for one hope he proves his doubters wrong Blumhoilann and surfsup2
