We do need a good run the in Europa League for obvious financial reasons .... plus upping our domestic game so as not to repeat the disappointing draw and lose scenario of this past season .... that had we not been slack .... we should have won.

Easy to say I know .... but I see us on a better domestic run next season .... due mainly to SG and his backroom team having had a full season ..... they should now be well aware of any pitfalls and be able to override them ..... having to stop the scum's attempt at 9IAR must be paramount in the players minds .... will see us triumph ..... a good run in the Europa league is important to the Club and should also benefit the players' confidence in the league campaign .... so for me they are both important in our progress back to Champion status.

Pretty clear that the only way to save Scottish football is to win the Europa League and Champions League back-to-back, and stopping them getting 10 while we’re at it.

Agree in fact unless Gerrard wins the league and Europa Cup double he should be sacked. Anything less is simply not good enough

No, I think a league win and a euro final place will see him getting kept on for another season to have a go at the chamoions league.

Europa League 2 kicks in from 2021/22 and the next cycle of the UCL is being discussed with the big clubs wanting some kind of closed shop or at least relegation/promotion allowing more of them to share in the pie continually. 

Even just now the likes of Holland ranked 14th will have their champions enter the champions path in the third qualifying round and the runners up enter in the 2nd qualifying round. This year saw PAOK v Basel and Ajax v Sturm Graz as runners up in leagues 12-15 with the losers then entering the Europa league 3rd qualfying round. Whilst we can have 2 or even more teams in the Europa league group stages I think the chances of having 2 teams in the UCL are firstly reliant on no changes (which is not going to happen) but all our teams competing well in Europe for the next 3-4 years which is pretty much impossible.

We are real contenders IF we get the players we are keeping and the new players we will sign to keep continuity and momentum of recent games. 

I think we have a far better chance of getting further...however, I would rather we won 55 over this. Doing both would be excellent though.

I think if we do make the EL group stages next year (and that’s a big if, as qualification is brutal), I think we’ll heavily rotate for those games.

Gerrard will know that the league title next season is non-negotiable

Being honest when u look back on this season not getting out of the euro group stage was very disappointing given the way we started. Obv would have preferred a cup or ofc the league but after the initial 3 group games I thought we were a cert to go thru. In fact looking back that goal we scored in Moscow that got chopped of for no reason probably would have seen us progress. Amazing how many times tho we have been fucked domestically but also on the euro stage as well

Correct. If Man City win the cup the Man Utd are in the group stage and Wolves in 2nd qualifier, if Watford win the cup then Watford in group stage and Man Utd in 2nd qualifier.
