Even better news: they can now redirect that money to an £8M bid for McKenna.

Doubt they'll be back in for McKenna after agreeing a fee for the French boy. Probably tried to get Turnbull cheaper so they can pay for that one.

Have celtic released a statement yet? That should be good...

FOLLOWING the announcement today from Motherwell FC that the proposed transfer of David Turnbull from the club to celtic will no longer take place, celtic Football Club has released the following statement.

‘It is unfortunate that we were not able to proceed with the transfer of David to celtic, having agreed a significant fee with Motherwell and reaching agreement with the player.

‘It is regrettable that David will be out of action for a considerable length of time and, clearly, these circumstances are totally outwith the club's control. We did everything we could to find a solution.

‘We would like to thank David and his representatives for the professionalism they have shown throughout. We also thank Motherwell FC for the way they have handled this process.

'We wish David all the very best with the operation and every success for the future.’

So they won’t be going back in for him when he’s got his knee sorted ?

Yet they want top dollar for Tierney who requires surgery and has hip problems as far as we know. ?

Motherwell should be sending the boy for 2nd and 3rd opinions before letting him get any surgery unless it actually is something they've already been aware of.

If it's just a routine op and he's only going to be out for a couple of months though then there's no good reason for them to try and drive the price down for him though other than to save themselves a few quid. Embarrassing.

Cracking logic they've got though.

Agree a fee of £3.25m to buy Turnbull. Discover he's got a dodgy knee. Try and renegotiate for a reduced fee.

Reject a £15m fee for Tierney who has a dodgy hip. Try and renegotiate for an extra £10m.

That is so true, but they can never be wrong.
