Popular Post Marky. 6,923
From Chris Jack who is out with the team for the Evening Times and The Herald. Glad he looks to have committed to a new deal. I also read today that he has been really impressive during pre-season. High hopes here! https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/17737962.ibrox-kid-josh-mcpake-set-to-sign-new-Rangers-deal/ Rangers youngster Josh McPake will commit his future to Ibrox next week when he puts pen-to-paper on a new deal until 2023. The forward has emerged as one of the most promising up-and-coming talents within the youth ranks at the Hummel Training Centre over the last few years. He was a mainstay of the Under-20s side that won the Development League and Youth Cup last term and had been attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Roma in recent times. But Rangers have now won the battle to hold onto McPake as he gets set to hand boss Steven Gerrard another boost this summer after a productive transfer window for the 39-year-old that has seen him sign up seven players. The Scotland youth international has been training with the Light Blues squad at their base in Portugal this week as Gerrard prepares for the new campaign. An agreement has now been reached over a long-term deal and McPake will sign on the dotted line after Rangers fly back from the Algarve as he looks to continue his progress in the coming season. dee9, Orange and Blue, WATP-FOREVER and 14 others
BlueSuedeSambas 53,752
Good to get him tied down. Hopefully he gets sent out on loan this season because he looked a class above for the unders in the cup final against celtic and I suspect he needs first team games at this point. siddiqi_drinker 14,635
He seems a real prospect -- saw a couple of games on rtv where he featured and he appeared to have a innate ability to just glide past people Bobby Hume and Dickie1963
magic8ball 27,901
Great news indeed, had bad feeling he was about to be lured away. There are a few right good prospects in the group he's a part of. Think him and Kai Henderson have big futures ahead of them

Kitey79 241
Great news about the young lad. Really does look a class player with a bright future. All about how he’s managed now regards game time/loaned out etc to gain experience. Few youngsters we have that look very promising! 🇬🇧

Ozblue 4,331
McPake is one of the standouts from that group, as is Cammy Palmer, Kai Kennedy. Dapo Mebude, Stephen Kelly plus a few others who look to have some potential. I watched them as much as possible last year and I can honestly say after watching them every day in Portugal they have came on in leaps and bounds training with the main squad.Gerrard will have to make some serious decisions soon if these lads keep improving; play them or loan them out (plus Middleton). bluenoz 30,684
Really happy for the kid but I still don't think we do enough to implement our own youth into the first team. Will be interested to see if one of the 5 that went to Portugal stick around with the first team this season. Imo, Stephen Kelly is ready. Reformation Bear 6,453
Banking for a few more seasons really excellent potential is probably a very sound piece of business. The difficult bit is still to come. As ever the question will be whether the player can show enough to persuade Gerrard to give him enough first team experience to see if potential can be translated into actual first team quality performances in games that matter when points must be won or cup ties won. And whether Gerrard is prepared to take the risk of playing him to see if he can make the transition into a really good first team player. Or perhaps a loan to another club may beckon first in order to give the player first team experience and Gerrard takes things from there once he sees how the player adapts. The player and the manager now have additional time to see if there is a star Rangers first team player in the making - one who goes on to have a great career at Rangers and who maybe in due course moves on in due course for a very healthy transfer fee. Here's hoping. SteveEarle, SeparateEntityMyArse, magic8ball and 1 other
bighorse 91
That is good news we really are looking good , we just need to off load some of the fringe players to free up some of the wage bill.

bluenoz 30,684
It maybe the best group of youthful talent ever assembled at the club but I'm not convinced they will get the opportunity especially when trying to stop nine in a row.

That's correct and it shows just how much talent they have when they are going so well. The big question is going to be what happens to these lads in the next few seasons to give them game time considering the players we have just signed, or potentially going to sign. We keep hearing about the possibility of colt teams operating in the lower leagues and that for me would solve the issue of players in their late teens getting the regular competitive games they need to develop. However its all been talk but I suspect it will come to nothing due to self interest and a lack of imagination and competence from the Scottish football authorities magic8ball
