Connor Goldson

If we are playing from the back then one of the midfielders, Jack or Davis should be dropping back to pick up the ball. We have have been caught out so many times when Goldson or Katic are looking for a pass into midfield and nobody shows. Today was a prime example of it, do we learn do we fuck.

Nah fuck that. Been saying for weeks he was a bombscare waiting to happen. His distribution is shocking too.

If Tav made that mistake today the which hunt would be rife.

Been saying for ages he keeps just about getting away with those moments and it will bite us eventually, typically that day was today

What was he even doing, did he think he could just play the pass through their man?

Needs a spell on the bench. More shite than good performances  in the bigger games since he joined.

Agreed. What's the point of having strength in depth in this position if we don't drop him due to poor form.

The first goal aye he gave it away, but his attempt at a pass to tav was a result of us having no fucking wide men, so the fullback is pushed so high one mistake costs us

If tav was wide in line with him they'd never have scored, the no widemen shite was utterly horrific

Was as much the loping about, taking five minutes to work out what he was going to do.....

Passing to one of them was the obvious outcome -if there wasn’t a gap to begin with, there sure as fuck wasn’t by the time he delivered the pass!

Also, seems to want to let Katic step in and deal with things.

Not what you want from your senior man.

In amongst it all, he did make a really good clearance from a near post cross, which would have seen the clincher sooner, but for his intervention.

That's a weakness in Gerrard. He plays his favourites. Look at Tav ffs!

He sang the praises of Flanagan at the end and rightly so. Well just play the guy in his correct position at RB and he'll be even better and get Barisic in at LB.

Katic as my main CB with rotation (if need be) for the other CB position.

But there's something lacking in what the defence are being asked to do.  Playing out from the back is fine but when they are being pressed they have to punt the ball out of danger. Why the fuck do they try to pass it short when being put under pressure? It's a basic fuck up that we persist with, and paid dearly for today.

If it’s in the air I can see why he’d rather let Katic, if it’s an option in all honesty.

Always prone to a mistake and one cost us big time today of all days. The number of times he ballooned the ball straight out of play was infuriating too. Just gave them more time to waste giving away needless throw ins and goal kicks.

Since joining us he’s played a crazy number of minutes and it looks like it’s taking his toll on him, both mentally and physically. Think he’d benefit from some time on the bench but he’s one of the first names on Gerrard’s teamsheet every week...even if he makes a costly mistake in the previous match. The guy can do no wrong in the gaffer’s eyes it would seem.
