loyalfollower 1,543
Katic was good- read the game well and I like his davie weir type of defending. Threat at set peices too. Goldson on the other hand still gives the fear and tonight again let’s the ball bounce and loses the ball in a dangerous position.
BF1 167
Hard to believe he's 22 and will only get better. What a player.
GA1972 9,555
Different class, should not be the centre back at risk of being dropped

bluchoo 846
Goldson had a poor game tonight, Katic bailed him out with 1 in the 1st half, he was out jumped for headers and Flanagans tackle stopped a goal from his mistake Ibroxbornandbred
orange&blue92 1,284
He was superb, as was most of the team. The defence we have at our disposal now, looks a massive upgrade or last season (even though most were all here).
Zappa6995 3,645
Best CB at the club by a distance, solid at the back and a threat up front.

If these 2 get the time form a proper partnership over 10-15 games then I think we've got a solid foundation there. However makes the Helander deal seem even more mental Could also be argued that signing Helander has made Katic more competitive and is fighting for his place. Always a good thing, especially if Katic continues to improve like this. Not that I want him to leave, but if he ever does, he'll be more valuable. So maybe it's shrewd investment! gmcf 34,164
Brilliant tonight . Top class defending at one end , and a real goal threat at the other at set pieces .
Tiger Shaw 30,465
A few candidates for man of the match tonight, the way it should be. Love big Katic
To Be A Ranger 4,032
Big man's solid, but the main part for me is that he is improving all the time. Just like Jack, Morelos etc - players who are thriving under Gerrard Ozblue

I actually thoightGoldson was the weaker of the 2 going into this season but Stevie seems to favour/trust him more. I had the fear that Goldson would be 1st pick and an other from the 3, with Katic fighting it out. He's been superb and although I'd agree Goldson wasn't great tonight, so far this season he's upped his level in terms of composure and making things look far easier than he did last season. Still early days but it's looking good! LegendofCoop

We all expected him to be dropped for Helander when he signed but I think over the course of the season we'll learn that he has been a waste of money. Not because he's not a good player but simply because he's not really needed.
steven33jackie 1,920
Katic had a good end to last season and has carried that form into the opening games of this season. When you look at the bench and see Helander and Edmunson we are well covered for center half and all permanent signings on long term deals. 35 Yard Dangerman

Think/Hope you’ll be proven right, Goldson still a bit crazy on the ball at times for my liking but they’ve got a track record of getting the job done together that we shouldn’t mess with again Given our plight at left back the now it seems crazy we spent that money on Helander even if he is a very good player

Still early days but it's looking good! I think it's clear all the players have upped their game this season. Not sure what the exact reason is......but SG & his team have done wonders in pre season. We just look a far more technical team this season.....passing has improved greatly. For my money though, Jack and Katic are the ones who have improved the most. I do think that's down to the incredible competition for places. Agree about Goldson...he's nowhere near as solid as Katic, but his game has improved since last season. TopCat 4,511
Thought he was excellent tonight...…… my MOM behind Jack and McGregor. He's playing out of his skin atm ......…. and at 22 he can only get better with experience.

MarcusDa Beasley 1,035
Will happily admit I was wrong about the big man. Thought he was awful on the ball but he’s already improved this aspect of his game and his goal threat and presence at the back far outweigh any weaknesses. Hope I’m saying the same about Barisic in 6 months.
