31,000 at the the Etihad yesterday would beg to differ that 'theres no appetite' for it. The WSL has made great progress in a very short time.

Improving the skill levels and the competitiveness of the leagues will help. The fact that few womens teams had support from established clubs was part of the issue.

The way things are going worldwide, women's football is going to leave men's football behind,  in backward thinking countries such as ours, in terms of popularity and sponsorship.

There has been progress, yes.  But - Yesterday’s game was £7 for an adult with 3 accompanying under 16s free.  Today’s match is completely free.  Great for boosting attendances in the EFL top tier, but totally unsustainable for teams who can barely finance their men’s team.  So a long long way to go.

The overheads are much smaller, the wages are, considerably lower, and so financing for the womens game is a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things. That, along with attracting a new audience and, new sponsors, mitigates any losses.

Of course there is a way to go but, in a short space of time, significant progress has been made.

It will be some time before womens football gets close to the EPL or La Liga. The US league has been a disaster. It needs careful handling to grow sustainably. The WSL seem to be being cautious with their promotion of the game. Man United will play, predominantly, at Leigh Sports Village, only selected games will move to Old Trafford if thats seen to be the best for the team.

Arsenal (the current champions) have played at Borehamwood for years. I'm sure they'll look for bigger premises in the near future but regular matches at the Emirates are a way off.

It’s actually interesting to watch as it grows just how they handle what is essentially a clean slate when it comes to sports management.

The point being women's football in the major countries will begin to attract bigger attendances and sponsorship compared to the men's professional game in smaller countries such as ours unless the football authorities get the finger out. Out with ourselves and the scum there is no appetite in foreign lands to televise Scottish football. Women's football will never be on a par with the men but if we are not careful they will develop a bigger and more appealing profile to TV audiences elsewhere than watching the Scottish League. Scotland already struggles to sell our game. Increased competition will only make it harder unless something improves.

For me women's football is shit but there are plenty of folk out there loving it

We've had bigger attendances at reserve games if you want to go down that road.

I bet it was not £25 or £30 per ticket as their would be 3,000 if that was the case , it was probably £5 or £10 at the gate

If they want women's leagues that's fine but let them fund there bloody selfs like any other team

At the end of their league last season,Man CV Arsenal, the top game, had a maximum of 500 at it.It'll be a long.long time before women's footie gets anywhere near men's footie,no matter how the PC.liberals try to convince everyone that it's worth the money being pumped into it.

The fact that 15/16 yo boys are pumping their(in a football sense) World Champions says it all.

As for wages some of the top womens players are earning salaries many of us can only dream of.The 'top' English international has earned £5 million plus since turning pro, can't remember her name but it shows what their game is costing the clubs as women's football is not self-sustaining at the top level.

The club are obviously trying to promote the woman's team, infact, the "game" seems to be trying to promote woman's football and it is (slightly) better than it used to be.

Should we have a new forum for this team? Could also put the reserves in there and the under's teams...

Just stick it in the fappening thread as that's the only content I'm interested in seeing from them tbh
