It's nothing to do with the SFA. Its an SPFL decision. They've put it to clubs several times and it's been voted down several times. More clubs are coming around to it though and it's only a matter of time before it happens.

Turkeys voting for Christmas though isn't it?  Likely to halt smaller clubs progression through leagues.

Not really. At least one set of proposals had the Colts locked in League Two with no prospect of promotion. It doesn't stop anyone climbing the leagues. Smaller clubs are (privately) more worried that they won't get freebies in the shape of loan players from Premiership sides.

Those spl clubs wanting colt clubs could let it be known that they'd be supportive of player loan requests from teams backing the introduction of colts.  Those blocking it, look elsewhere. Im sure we've enough players to to both. Play them at their own game if thats the reason for their resistance.

Why? The whole purpose of Colts is so that we're keeping these players in-house, controlling every aspect of their development and getting them games that have actual consequences.  Sending them out on loan to that level anyway is pretty self-defeating.

If we've more players in the age groups than could be accommodated in the colts, and we think it's right for them to get competitive experience or the need for them to mature away from HTC, then it's a possible lever in getting colts accepted into the league structure.

Depends on the numbers, if fewer then I'd agree colts is best solution.

Many of the players play at several different age groups. Many of the boys in the Colts team (U21) also play in the Youth League (u19) and the CAS League (u18).  Doing a reciprocal deal with them to give them the thing we're trying to avoid is utterly pointless.

The biggest lever to getting Colts into the system is stopping bending over backwards to accommodate clubs drawing less fans than the Colts do. Why the fuck are the likes of Elgin and Montrose being allowed to dictate what is best for the game in Scotland. They can barely draw punters from their own towns.

We are already playing players in older age groups and have been doing so since MW was here ,It looks like it’s paying dividends with the results out under teams are doing ,Allowing the guys at the upper age groups to play full first team level football at a young age is surely the next step ,This would work for not just us but for the whole youth set up in the country ,should the powers that be allow it to happen within our own league set up
