This is taken directly from Uefa..

Group G: Young Boys (7) v Porto (4), Feyenoord (4) v Rangers (7)

Young Boys will be through if they win (Feyenoord and Rangers could match their ten points but, even if they do, Young Boys' three-way head-to-head is guaranteed to be superior to both)

Rangers will be through if they win and Porto draw or lose, or if they draw and Porto lose

Porto will be out of contention if they lose

Feyenoord will be out of contention if they lose or draw and Young Boys win, or if they lose and Young Boys draw

We're also definitely through if we draw and Porto draw, no scenario where we could go out then

Outcome 1 - Win in Rotterdam

This is the easiest and least complicated outcome for Rangers to reach the next stage.

Gerrard and Co sit three points ahead of the Dutch side and victory would take them six clear of tonight's opponents with one game remaining.

Rangers already trump Porto on the head-to-head - so even a win for the Portuguese side against Young Boys wouldn't matter as they wouldn't be able to finish above the Light Blues.

All that would be left to decide is if Gers finish first or second. That would go down to the final game.

Should Young Boys fail to win tonight and Rangers win it would mean the Ibrox side would finish top of the group if they avoid defeat to the Swiss side on matchday six.

If both Rangers and Young Boys win then it's a must win affair for Gers in Glasgow on December 12 after the Swiss side won 2-1 at home on matchday two.

Outcome 2 - Rangers draw and Porto fail to win

Rangers currently sit three points ahead of Feyenoord and Porto who sit third and fourth in the section.

Should the Light Blues draw in Rotterdam and Porto fail to win against Young Boys then Gerrard's men would advance.

This scenario would mean the Ibrox outfit would hold the better head-to-head record over Porto and Feyenoord so couldn't be overtaken in the group standings.

Matchday six would then decide if Rangers finish first or second in the section and if they would then be seeded or unseeded in the last 32 draw.

Current standings + previous results after four games

1 - Young Boys - 7pts

2 - Rangers - 7pts

3 - FC Porto - 4 pts

4 - Feyenoord - 4 pts

Matchday 1 - Rangers 1 Feyenoord 0 / Porto 2 Young Boys 1

Matchday 2 - Young Boys 2 Rangers 1 / Feyenoord 2 Porto 0

Matchday 3 - Porto 1 Rangers 1 / Young Boys 2 Feyenoord 0

Matchday 4 - Rangers 2 Porto 0 / Feyenoord 1 Young Boys 1

To be fair most of it is right. Just the bit about if us and Porto both win we qualify cos they can't catch us - that bit is wrong.

How does that work? we’re three points ahead with a better head to head than them

The best they can do if we lose at home to YB is draw level with us on points but then we beat them on head to head surely

But we're 3 points ahead of Porto, if we both win tonight then even if we lose to YB and they win, we have a better head to head against Porto and we would retain 2nd place although equal on points.

If us and Porto both win tonight, we are on 10, Porto and YB are both on 7. Then if Porto and YB both win the final round of games, all 3 of us are on 10. If that happens, Porto top the group on head to head (7 points, 6 v YB + 1 v us), YB are second (6 points, 6 v us + 0 v Porto), we are third (4 points, 4 v Porto + 0 v YB).

In that scenario if young boys and Porto both win their final games, we'd be tied on 10 points with both of them. We'd have better head to head over Porto, Porto would have better head to head over Young boys and they would have better against us. No idea what the criteria is after head to head.

That’s absolutely bonkers but would be the most Rangers way to go out of the competition

It's the only fair way to decide a 3 way split. If the exact opposite results happen in all 4 games (us and Porto lose tonight, then us and Feyenoord win final games) then its us, YB and Feyenoord all on 10 points and us and YB go through and Feyenoord go out.
