As bad as Katic was, I wouldn't have dropped him for this one.

Now that Edmundson is in he should stay in the squad for a sustained period. Chopping and changing helps nobody.

I hope Edmundson grabs this opp with both hands, I do have the fear about this though. Katic has been good in Europe and although he's been shite since the start of the year - has at least got used to the European game.

Katic obviously has a shocker at the weekend (as did Connor), but SG really has no problem with throwing him under the boss compared to many others.

Probably the right choice bringing in Edmundson but if Katic confidence wasn’t killed then that’ll do it for definite. 
 

If Gerrard trusts himself then it has to be Edmundson till Helanders back. This constant change is getting beyond a joke tbh.

People are right to highlight Kent's poor form but in a game like this, his pace in behind their high line should help.

who do you replace goldson with though? if he isnt playing katic (who had a stinker at the weekend and has been off the boil) helander's injured and you cant trust 2 unproven centre backs really. it was katic or goldson to be dropped and IMO katic was worse. Goldson does play better from the back than katic too, maybe a thought on SG's mind.

people forget that kent is only struggling of late against teams parking the bus and building a brick wall in front of it, when teams want to come and play, he is excellent.

Just highlighting the point that if both Goldson and Katic have a poor game it's only ever going to be one of them that gets dropped, it's bonkers.

Kent is our only pacey player tonight, dropping him for aribo and we'd have nothing on the break (not defending Kent, he's been awful for weeks, he's our only player with decent pace though, since I don't count ojo as a player)

Yeah, I think there's more to it than simply who we've faced in the league.

I think, assuming we play deeper tonight, he should get opportunities to hurt them - up to him to make the most of them. Show some composure on the big stage like he did against the scum. He's been phoning it in since that goal.

Huge call dropping Katic for a guy that he dropped after a dodgy performance at Hamilton.

Aribo can feel hard done by, A worldie last week and a goal on Sunday yet dropped tonight.
