Yes he lacks a bit of pace but his positioning is good and makes up for it much like Davie Weir did He is left sided too and gives us natural balance and he can pass the ball Goldson is okay but the other two are very poor and we should punt ASAP I would sign a top centre back and keep goldson as cover but it will cost big money pay peanuts you get monkeys ! ExiledWeegie123 1,236 Posted February 23, 2020 Share Posted February 23, 2020 the whole back line is a worry but the pairing at centre back is shocking, weve went from having some of the best centre halfs i.e gough, boumsong, bougherra, cuellar, to having total pish who cant deal with balls in the air or balls to their feet, their distribution is shocking and a massive bombscare whenever either of them are on the ball. but... if we stick the ball in the net a few more times each game then we win games, we are shit at breaking down teams and most of our efforts on goal are wild strikes with no composure or placement of the ball. Hopefully Kamberi brings some composure as it was a great goal and good link up play from him today in one of the only positives to take from it. steven33jackie 1,917 Posted February 23, 2020 Share Posted February 23, 2020 Centre halfs are not helped by our formation and over reliance on our full backs being involved in the attacking play. In all the games we have lost goals the opposing team have played with two attackers either with three or four at the back. That effectively means our centre halfs are man for man. We also play a high line but neither of two seems to drop to provide cover for a long ball. First goal today Goldson jumps under the high ball and Katic gets caught out in 50/50 ball. Fact is both of them were 40/50 yards from goal almost level with each other. Second goal is even worse as we are winning and their only option is to attack but a punt through the middle catches both of them level with each other and on the turn running back towards goal. As well as the centre backs needing looked at we need a defensive midfielder that can actually defend and make tackles to help us see our games. Jack no longer driving and controlling the midfield, was head and shoulders above every cunt on the park for the majority of the games up until Xmas. Davis looks like he's aged another 5 years in 2 months. Our go to Striker has looked a shadow of the player and is trying too hard in front of goal and it's costly. Kent's price tag now seems to weigh heavy. I could honestly go through the whole squad and pick fault, I agree with the CB pairing looking poor but were shite to a man at the minute - management included. I don't think they were exposed for the goals. Both huge fuck-ups by Katic. Goldsons a fkn bombscare and accident waiting to happen, he brings calamity to the defence. Katic was horrendous today and cost us, he gers dropped for Edmondson on Wednesday night. A proper manager makes that change. Katic however has been our warrior and best CB when chosen at times hes young and confidence today will be shattered and not helped by Gerrard calling hi out again. Goldson is mr undroppable and will cost Gerrard his job. Crying out for a 30 year international CB of davie weir mould, that can bring katic and edmondson on, one that can play for 3 or 4 seasons and settle us. Gerrard has single handedly stopped the progress of Mccrorie and Middleton and brought in king...ojo...Barker... all waste of wages n not needed. Murphy and docherty will be back next season...and if Gerrard hers beat I the next 2 matches, it will be under a different management team and hopefully get a chance. His absence has probably cost us still being with a fighting chance in the league. Not only was there less mistakes in him, he also knew how to score with his head.
