Popular fan account, Celts Are Here, appealed: "ATTENTION all celtic Fans: We are planning a minute's applause for Steven Gerrard on the 8th minute of the celtic vs St Mirren game on Saturday to recognise his contributions towards 8 and 9 in a row. We will also accept blinking instead of clapping!" "In the 8th minute on Saturday could all celtic fans please show their support for Steven Gerrard!" While most Rangers supporters took part in the eighth-minute applause for Gerrard last night, many fans on social media branded it an "embarrassment".
