Future tv deals maybe not so crazy numbers of ££'s

Recommended Posts

Anyone reckon that Sky/BT and whoever else charges for football now have the ball at their feet with negotiations for future deals? they are paying absolute mad money mostly to the EPL fuelling outrageous wages paid to the players, if the EPL are in breach of contract (albeit through no fault of their own)by  not fulfilling fixtures scheduled for pay tv.

Will that give Sky/BT the right to renegotiate at vastly reduced terms? bursting the mad EPL bubble .

No.

Sky and BT will still try to outbid each other and their competition will keep the price high.

Only thing that will change it is if the country are fucking skint after this and no cunt can afford to pay close to a ton a month for their Sky package.

The nature of blind bidding will always drive up the amount of investment.

Once the big picture is laid bare whenever that might be imo the mindset will have changed to reset, and filling the pockets of quarter of a million pound footballers via pay sport when many  cant get a hand gel, mask or toilet roll and putting food on the table for the family (if you can get anything , I will be sick of smoked Gammon by then, always loads of that left for some reason in Asda) and quite possibly no job, the tv companies packages might have slipped down the order from a must to a who gives a fuck, multiply that by millions of people worldwide and I think they will have a problem.

Good post mate ...... and running with your thoughts on TV monies possibly coming to a more sensible level ...... nobody thought what happened to us  in 2012 could happen ..... but it did ...... same with this Covid-19 shit ..... nobody had a clue it would be like this ..... so all scenarios are very much on the table ..... we can only hope this moves on faster so we can all get back to some degree of normality.

Football is the lifeblood of the pay channels, I flicked on sky sports yesterday for the first time in ages and they had nothing to talk about, the  cameras were in a players house asking him about his training programme, the concern about this virus that can stop the world in its tracks meaning chaos and financial uncertainty for everyone meaning for them no live sport is borderline catastrophic, no sport = no viewers=no subscriptions=no money to pay stupid money contracts, and whats to say it can not happen again?

In the big picture sport is a fair way down the list but it is what Sky etc have went balls in on paying miles and miles over what the product is worth.
