UEFA warn Member Associations against closing season early

EUFA have warned nations NOT to halt their seasons and insist abandonment places entry to European competition under threat.

The football governing body issued a letter to member associations on Thursday after Belgium became the first to declare an end to their 2019/20 season.

That move crowned Club Brugge title winners and also handed a Champions League qualifying spot to runners-up Gent but UEFA have urged against "premature termination".

They are "confident" football can resume in the coming months and are exploring a return to action in July and August, dependent on how the coronavirus pandemic plays out.

If the SPFL were to follow Belgium's lead, celtic would be declared title winners and earn a place in Champions League qualifying, while Rangers, Motherwell and Aberdeen occupy Europa League qualifying places.

"We are confident that football can restart in the months to come — with conditions that will be dictated by public authorities," the letter from UEFA, the ECA and EL stated, “and believe that any decision of abandoning domestic competitions is, at this stage, premature and not justified.”

Competitions, including UEFA's Champions League and Europa League, were put on hold last month as the COVID-19 outbreak spread across Europe. UEFA working groups have been working on plans to resume competitions.

“Their work is now focusing on scenarios encompassing the months of July and August, including the possibility that the UEFA competitions restart after the completion of domestic leagues,” read the letter sent to leagues, clubs and national associations. "A joint management of calendars is strictly required as the conclusion of the current season must be coordinated with the start of the new one, which may be partly impacted because of the overstretch.

And I was correct also.

UEFA do have a say in the leagues, they will use their power over the clubs in a financial sense to dictate the narrative.

No say my fucking arse.

In order top to bottom in football.

FIFA

UEFA

SFA

SPFL

Simple as that.

Whether anyone likes it or not or wants to deny the fact, money dictates it all.

Football is seriously fucked with these corrupt, insensitive, money-grabbing bastards.

Unreal their thinking and logic.

Let's see them change their tune when Italy and Germany and Spain null and void the season. Are they going to ban them from competition?

I even read that Premiership teams were considering moving games to China.

Correct they tick every one of your 6 observations right there, worlds on its knees with every country trying their very best to prevent an unseen killer virus and then you have this obscene statement from UEFA, impeccable timing as per.

Uefa should use some sense and declare the lot null and void.

Lives before money.

This is an unforeseen, unprecidented event and may not breach contracts.

If it does, serves them right for their greed and favouring a small number of their members.

Maybe this is the time to reform the whole lot!

If the Spanish, Italian and German teams null and void their league then their is no chance UEFA will carry out that threat, since they are the only two leagues they seem to give a fuck about. This needs the big teams to stand up and call their bluff - but we all know their own greed will make them do fuck all.
