What’s people’s thoughts on him as a player for us?

From what I remember, we paid big money for him (in the region of £6million), he had injury problems and then there was a carry on about an appearance fee we couldn’t afford to trigger. 
 

I didn’t realise he was an England international when we signed him, so it must’ve been disappointing considering the money we spent on him at the time. Was he actually a player who we were just unlucky with? Always seemed like a Papac-style player who was solid but not spectacular, rather than someone we should’ve spent big on...

Bit of a flop tbh the transfer fee was pretty hefty and he was on a high wage

Pretty much played only 1 full season with us iirc and celtic ran away with the league that year so we were a bit pish then the following season was the whole appearance money debacle.

He only had 1 cap in a friendly for England so not exactly an international.

The fee was pretty standard for then but yes like a lot of players we signed he had injury problems.

There was also an appearance clause which kept him benched for a while once he came back from injury

Looking at his stats over 15 years he averaged about 16 games a season so its clear he was reasonably talented but was just as likely to pick up an injury.

Hadn’t heard anything about him when he arrived 

forgot about him when he was here

couldn’t remember anything about him after he left 

We’ve had our fair share of these types over the years that’s for sure.

Good fullback but 6 million was way OTT.  

Ruined by injury with us. Would have been a good addition if he'd been injury free and half the price.

We never saw that fullback at Ibrox thou.    That was £6m down the pan.

We signed him to be a left sided CB in a back three, he got injured and by the time he came back we were playing a back four under McLeish which didn’t really need his type at CB so he got played at LB.

Remember him being decent in the Sven’s Man City side that led the Premier League at one time in the 07/08 season.

I’m sure he was part of the team that got humped 8-1 by Middlesbrough
