Without reading the rest of the thread from this point, was it not supposed to be a legal requirement for building the club deck we had sufficient parking at the Albion to accommodate it ?  I’ve never actually known the ins and outs of this for fact but I’ve always been reluctant to accept it as fact, purely from not knowing any other stadium UK wide that needs to supply a fucking car park to stay open.

There was, but is it still in effect after the car parking near Ibrox was zoned? I wonder if there are plans for a car park share on match days with the supermarket?

Good for the club if we receive decent money tbh

£50 mil and the whole front of Ibrox to be renovated, the main stand just a spruce up obviously but the road along to get the full commonwealth games makeover ffs. We had more going on at Ibrox than most host stadiums yet the surrounding areas and network hubs got completely patched while everywhere else got millions ploughed in. Scandalous

Imho, Rangers should of got to host the Commonwealth games, because at the time when they were doing the feasibility studies for it, Rangers had been front runners for redevelopment with a super casino but someone at GCC sabotaged it and then SDM  received the phantom tax bill.  Shortly afterwards cfc got the go ahead to host it.

I agree and it’s ridiculous that they got over a million of our tax funded money on what is basically nothing to do with the games but a tarrier walkway that benefited them as a club, they held not one event just the opening ceremony, it was an absolute farce but I will be content that it 100% killed everyone of they treasonous scumbags that our Queen sat in their ground while the whole of the commonwealth showed her their appreciation. The shit of her majesty in the house of horrors with the red arrows trailing red white and blue over head is an image that will haunt them to the grave.

In fairness the casino and hotel were fictions of SDMs imagine and delusions of grandeur, but your right even if the pipe dreams were ever going to be financed by him it would have been blocked at every turn by those in powers no matter how much it would have brought to our city. If it benefits Rangers it’ll get rejected.
yiu say about Ibrox being front runner for redevelopment but I doubt it was ever given much thought

They really shouldn't have got state aid for their stadium, the proposal Rangers had would have been funded by the super casino. The  opening ceremony was really cheesy and some of their fans boo'd the Queen.

The bid as far as I can remember was not the 'Moonbeams' bid it was a bid for a super casino. Rangers were front runners but the bid got scuppered. Manchester then won the bid but the government eventually blocked it. When all this was going on the feasibility study into the Common wealth games was going on and Rangers would have been a contender but SDM got his phantom tax bill  which spooked the bank enough to aggressively claw back their money.  Shortly after the bid failed it was announced cfc would host the games.

Anyone else finding our current board “wanting” ?

I have to be honest . I hated Park ,pre  SPFL votes .I was strangely starting to warm to him .Now this was probably sanctioned under King .Yet both are part of the board along with DM and never showed the fans any transparency .And look where that all got us .And they are doing the same all over again .Selling property  to the bheasts without even consulting the fans

Absolutely treacherous

Not to mention there’s plans for some £20 million to be spent on the East End. They are creating a ‘style mile’ from Merchant City to Parkhead with walk way, pubs and clubs. And on top of that they are building another function type place next to celtic park. Fucking unreal.

I know I'm probably but in the minority here but I like it. Let's be honest, the area around Ibrox is pretty fucking honking.  Our stadium has got to be one of the most beautiful stadium structures in the world, our main stand anyway. The land around it should complement it.

The design presented I am a fan off. It's reminiscent of the shape of our original stadium and the brick work complements the design of our the main stand without being overbearing. Also I'd argue that those renders are slightly skewed. It makes you it look like it's right next to Ibrox rather than setback behind the roundabout. Obviously done to frame it better but misleading. I'd also say it's tucked away slightly as it's not on where you would describe the main channel into Ibrox. If the car park has gone, most of the foot flow will come from the subway and PRW ends. It's not really in the way.

The money has apparently been earmarked for developing Edmiston House and Ibrox which would have more benefits to the club financial and otherwise than owning a car park. I remember when we secured a loan against ACP and EH for around 3 million so I imaging the land with planning permission granted would be worth a fair chunk. The development would also increase the land value around Ibrox and make the rest of the area more attractive to developers. More importantly, we still own a third of the car park, which would have it's land value increased. I think the club should capitalise on this, get a developer to get consented plans for another development then sell the land our selves with permission to build. Could net the club a very tidy sum and if it's true we have a Hong Kong based property and land developer eating in the wings to invest, I'd be surprised if it hasn't at the very least been thought about already

Who owns the bit beside the petrol station, as that seems a large part or land, or what's happening to the ground where the tall flats got demolished, loads of space there.

Fair enough bud, I’ve never had a wean in toe, I’m lucky to be in Clydebank the last 10 years so I’m at Ibrox within 20 minutes but had 30 years travelling from down south so I know everyone has different circumstances mate it wasn’t a dig. Just honestly wish those that could would support the local bus more these days, so many struggling and it’s a shame.
still never drove though ha ha. Glad your wee man gets to the game though, must be a great feeling for you

There's a definition of lucky I've never seen before

Are they not using that land for the new station they are putting in.

So we already have a problem with residents moaning like wee weans because they live next to a football stadium. So let’s build more homes.
We already have problems with parking and FGCC’s bonkers plans to move all parking a mile away from the stadium so let’s make it even harder.

The  GHA social housing flats that  now  totally block the  previously great view of the stadium coming from the House for Art   Lovers approach  are a bloody eyesore.

Now we are allowing ourselves to be boxed in from the Albion end....and the Board  have agreed to the sale !!

Anything involving GCC and GHA makes me  verysuspicious  and wary ,as I  personally know quite a number of the top  lever pullers in both organisations and believe me they do not have our best interests at heart.

This is a recipe for trouble and grumbles about fans behaviour, noise and parking...short sightedness does not begin to sum it up.

This would not happen at the tarriers den of iniquity.
