Bit rich of them considering the history of the Irish Brigades involvement in the Spanish Civil War on the side of Franco.

If you know your history and all that. Morons one and all.

Not to mention the Catholic Church fanning the flames of conflict and playing a big part in the descent into civil war. And then almost to a priest supporting Franco throughout and after the conflict. Another scummy stain on their church.

"Militarily the Brigade achieved little; in its first action, near Ciempozuelos in February 1937, the Brigade was involved in a friendly fire incident with a Falangist unit while advancing to the front. Four brigaders and 13 Falangists were killed in the exchange of fire. Shortly after, at Titulcia in March 1937 the Brigade refused to advance after taking casualties and was withdrawn. Later, months of inactivity in a quiet sector sapped morale and saw an erosion of discipline; the unit was finally sent home in July 1937."

Contrast that to the Scots... 'The Scots Who Fought Franco' is a fantastic wee documentary. The old boys interviewed are superb.

I'm hoping they don't get hammered. Just walloped enough to have them think they still have a chance away from home.

0-2 should be enough to have them play their strongest team.

Leave the hammering for the second leg which will leave them fucked for their following league game.

I reckon that Valencia has the beating of the spuds. The spuds don't know how to deal with a team that goes for them with fair ref giving fair decisions instead of giving the spuds the benefit.

They simply can't build from the back against a high press, most weeks in Scotland their centre halves can be 10-15 yards inside the opposition half before they see an opposition player.

Exactly, which asks the question why more teams aren’t prepared to come out, get stuck in and give it a go.
