Poetry_In_Blue 1,043
The two best parts of that article is that Rangers should be rejecting a £6 million bid, and Furman is only going on holiday not to sign for another club.
BlueSuedeSambas 53,775
If we can get 8-10 million for McGregor I would take it. There are plenty of good goalkeepers who we could get for relatively small sums of money who are more than capable of replacing McGregor. For example Real Betis have said Ricardo can go for the right price and he only cost them 3 million Euros and Issaksson, who cost Man City 2 million is likely to be available this summer too. Muff 245
You know that if we sell McGregor, Alexander will probably be made the no 1 and we'll bring in a cheap back-up. Alexander is good cover but nowhere near being good enough for the number 1 spot. If McGregor is sold then a quality keeper must be brought in. Muff 245
Wenger and Arsenal were linked with him the other day. I think he's a quality keeper. McGregor would be mad to join Newcastle IF they did make a move for him.
Craigy 0
I don't want him to go because I know the money wouldn't be used to bring in another quality keeper.
Gaffbear 4,096
There is a Spurs fan working with us this week and he said the word down south is £10m for McGregor from Spurs... We get 10 for him there are plenty keepers around Europe we could get for 2 or 3 and use the other £7m for a top striker.

Danny 9
According to the Evening Times, Keegan's crew are going to launch a £6M bid for McGregor. NEWCASTLE UNITED are ready to launch a £6million move for Rangers keeper Allan McGregor. The Tyneside club are having a summer purge on their high earners and fringe players to fund new arrivals and mount a fresh challenge in Kevin Keegan's first full season in charge. Irish keeper Shay Given - who earns £45,000-a-week - is set to leave, with Arsenal and other Premiership sides interested. And sources at St James' Park said today that McGregor has been indentified as the keeper they want to replace Given. While Keegan is first-team manager without any interference on team selection, chairman Mike Ashely has instructed director of football Dennis Wise and vice-president Tony Jimenez to conduct all transfer dealings - and McGregor is said to be a major target. advertisement The 26-year-old Gers star - who was outstanding last season until an ankle injury in mid-April ended his campaign - is also being chased by Spurs. They were alerted to him as they tracked Alan Hutton last season, and boss Juande Ramos is interested as he looks to bring in two new keepers. SportTimes understands McGregor would consider following his close friend Hutton down south. He signed a new long-term £12,000-a-week deal a year ago, but is well aware big clubs are looking at him. And, after a string of off-the-field press headlines over the past three months, he would look at leaving if the deal is right for all parties. Rangers are looking for big money and would be likely to reject the £6m mentioned on Tyneside. But if Newcastle or Spurs were to come in with more than that, they would be almost certain to do business. Neil Alexander was bought in January and has proved an able deputy, but selling McGregor for big bucks would strengthen boss Walter Smith's hand in the transfer market. Probably already posted but meh.

If McShagger was at a diddy team in the EPL big teams would still probably bid 15 + for him.

Guest Andypendek
Can't see why Newcastle would want to lose Given, he's outstanding. Since when did EPL teams have a problem paying people 45k a week? What a load of lazy bullshit. Purge on high earners, aye right!
