Since 2000, Lennon has been repeatedly threatened with his life in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Lennon’s home is daubed with threats and sectarian abuse. A middle aged sales man tries to force Lennon off a busy carriageway when he has his daughter at his side. A trainee doctor and lawyer (were they ever thrown out?) attack him at traffic lights. Scott Brown and McGeady are attacked on a night out. O’Dea is punished. Lennon is now knocked out from behind, has a suspected seizure and tongue swallowing treatment and is hospitalised. Boruc is repeatedly abused, vilified and reported for his ‘antics’ that ‘might cause offence or a riot. Still, someone publicises the address of Jordanhill College. The attack on a woman and child by ‘Chelsea fans’ in Glasgow after the game. The Manchester Memorial Millions sing racist chants and laugh at the death of two of the Celtic family. They point score with child abuse. They are so hurt by Jock Stein that they lie about him. Someone publishes the address of Jordanhill College and security guards and police protection is arranged and questions are asked in Parliament by Jack McConnell. This is obviously a spin move to distract from the shame, vitriol and degradation that most decent Scots regard is deservedly associated with Rangers Football Club. The Blue Order’s explanation that it is banter to slate us for having empathy and sympathy for those living through tragedy. And finally, The Blue Order’s motive? “Celtic fans always want to be liked.” Cheers guys – you have only confirmed that you are now admittedly the antithesis of all my club stands for.
