***Generic Kris Boyd Thread***

He offered more than Boyd.

I didn't see him assist any goals

As a lone man Lafferty played better than Boyd did.

I think Lafferty's lack of games showed after the adreneline wore off, but he looked up for it when he first came on.

Aye, i'd agree with that, Boyd isn't suited to 4-5-1, we shouldn't have even been playing with a lone striker today, at that point anyway.

I thought Lafferty was going to give us a NI style appearance when he first came on, but like you said, as the game got on, he disappeared somewhere.

Big up to Boydy for his assist today, he was strong and put a great through ball to Kenny. Caught out the defence and they didn't expect Boyd to win the ball and stick it through for him.

Took a sore one today and good to see his No Surrender attitude (that we need to see more of!) when he waved away the stretcher.

Must say well done for his part in the first goal, and it was a terrific finish from Miller, put a lot of effort into the game and but wasnt getting too much in return... Just the usual tbh, a header missed here a header won there

Great ball through to Miller for the goal, but apart from that, I thought he was pretty poor. Unfortunate for him that he had to come off injured - I'd have hooked him off at half time.

Lafferty may not have been great, but he worked hard, and helped out the defence and midfield when we were under pressure, and that's something you would not have seen Boyd doing!

Apart from the pass through to Miller he didn't do much.

He managed to completely miss a free header at the second goal this deceiving the sellik defence as they thought to themselves "No cnut could ever miss that free header"

Whilst amazed and confused at Boyds buffoonery and inadequacy they went to sleep and allowed Miller to score.

Boyd should be punted to Cardiff or Plymouth Argyle in January

A No Surrender attitude would to have played on, tracked back, worked hard and contributed to the team.

His 'attitude' was clear for all to see on cup final day

I give up with some people on here, we won, we scored two goals we beat the tims and Boyd had a hand in the first goal, he won a few headers he lost few, he did track back and chase on the right wing. Novo missed a snip at the end, if that was boyd this thread would be 10 pages longer still.

Fucksake Bears we won even though we played shite lets try to stick together for a change.

What do you call the assist then?

He scores and nothing else, and he "isn't contributing, he could do better, assist, bring others into the game.."

He doesn't score but assists his fellow striker score a goal, and he still "isn't contributing"?

What else is he to do? He could work harder, or be more skillful, but crikey.

Today he wasn't the best player on the pitch, by any means. But to say he didn't contribute is rather harsh, after actually scoring, an assist is probably the next best thing that contributes to the team winning the game.

Boyd had one assist today - won a good number of headers and tracked back - his 'so called' replacement was so bad at winning headers he had to be shunted onto the left wing - and did NOTHING good all game.

That's just bullshit BP9. He troubled the celtc backline on a few occassions, especially McManus. He held the ball up, was shite in the air as usual, and helped Stevie Smith out on a number of occassions. He also did a power of running, and followed the runner.

Don't know what else you could ask for from a player who is just back from injury?

Done well to play Miller in and tried a bit harder than usual in the air against them by his own standards but apart from that was pretty poor overall imo and his lack of anticipation, mobility and effort is shocking at times for me as is his fitness, he looked like he was running through water and blowing out his erse after 20 minutes, Simply not fit/good enough for that level and it showed again today imo. At best id use him off the bench in the latter stages when his poor fitness, mobility and effort dont get exposed as much with players tired and usually defending deeper allowing him to get in the box more.

Wasn't impressed with Lafferty but he's just back from injury, i wasn't expecting that much. Was a difficult situation for him to be thrown into.

Boyd had the assist today and was working hard, for all we know he could have found that elusive goal if he hadn't had to come off prematurely. But just as long as there's no lay off time, the last thing we need right now is more players out.

The biggest mistake made wasn't Boyd's fault, his pass to split the Celtic defence was inch perfect to set Miller's goal up, the biggest mistake was Walter's or even possibly Ally's mistake in all honesty seeing that Walter had to sit in the stand and shouldn't have been given any instructions! Was the decision to revert to a 4-5-1. I believe if we had continued in a 4-4-2 formation we might have nicked another goal by half time. Not Boyd's fault in any way and I hope his injury isn't too serious.

Im not sure if we were watching the same game. Lafferty worked his socks off when he came on, giving their defence many problems. Considering he is just back from injury, he did very well IMO.

big laff gave them more problems than boydy - easy!!!!! was only brought back to left mid to tighten up and hold on for a result...... i thought boydy was shcoking and lack of movement was there for all to see........ was glad he went off, and the guys running on with the strectchers for him ran quicker than boydy did the full game....!!!!

From what I have seen in the games Boyd has played this season he seems to get the ball with his back to goal and not many clear opportunities in front of goal, have opposing teams wised up and pushed up based on our formation this year?

Just a thought

He was alright. Him and Lafferty both need to work on winning headers in the air. Good pass for the first goal, but apart from that he was largely anonymous. His unwillingness to chase up defenders and go after the ball is frustrating to watch.

For a big lad, ive always noticed this, plus lafferty rarely jumps... the plus side from Lafferty was that he managed to hold the ball up well when the ball came into his feet, wether that be in the air or along the ground, he seemed much more comfortable at that than bringing it down with his chest or knocking it down with his head... he had a moment in the second half where he had 2 or 3 touches with nobody around him to bring the ball down and get it under control and he still ended up losing it, we were under so much pressure at the time though none of our strikers were getting much of a sniff of the ball.

This is a Boyd thread though so I better get back on topic

I’m sick of flak... come to Murray Park and make me better: Boyd

KRIS BOYD has thrown down the gauntlet in an amazing challenge to the critics who've savaged him.

The Rangers star turned on his tormentors last night as his patience finally snapped in the wake of yet more personal attacks.

Boyd has had his fill of what he sees as over-the-top abuse - and has challenged the critics who are caning him to take him for a coaching session at Murray Park.

The Ibrox No 9 said: "Instead of writing their columns or going on the radio and mouthing off, why don't they come in to Murray Park and show me themselves what I'm supposed to be doing wrong?

"Failing that they could get my mobile number and give me a ring.

"But I'd much prefer it if they came in and showed me themselves.

"They could take us all for a coaching session - that would help us instead of them taking digs all the time.

"We've got some very good coaches at Ibrox, but there are some out there who clearly believe they can do better.

"So why don't they come in and show us?

"If they care about the club as much as they say they do they should be coming in and giving us an hour of their valuable time.

"If it makes me a better player then I'm all for it."

Stick from the likes of Derek Johnstone, Mark Hateley and Charlie Nicholas has stung Boyd the most.

He blasted: "You're always a better player when you've finished the game and hung up your boots.

"I have been criticised since I joined Rangers, it's nothing new to me and it doesn't affect me any more.

"I score goals and if I'm not then fine, criticise me. But it has gone too far.

"Every time there is a Scotland game on I've got to sit and watch the TV and there's a guy there who will say I should have done this or I should have done that.

"At the end of the day, I've scored more goals for my country than him.

"Just because he may not like me he feels the need to have a go. Just move on mate."

Three games without a goal between them in the SPL had put Boyd and strike partner Kenny Miller in the firing line ahead of Sunday's Old Firm showdown.

Their response was emphatic as the pair combined to blast Rangers to victory.

Yet Boyd confessed: "If you are a striker and you're not scoring then you are going to be disappointed.

"I've not been happy with the start I've made to the season. But at the same time some of the criticism has been over the top.

"It goes with the territory when you're at the Old Firm, but with some people it gets personal.

"You sit and read the papers and you listen to what they are saying, some of them hardly even played the game.

"Kenny Miller and I were laughing on Saturday. One guy, who never got out of the First Division as far as I am aware, basically said Kenny and I weren't up to the job.

"Sunday was the perfect response as far as we were concerned.

"It's one thing when ex-players have a go, but when others who've never even played the game start then you just have to laugh.

"They'd be as well going for a cup of tea with their missus."

Boyd admits his performances so far this season haven't been good enough.

He added: "I've had a poor start by my standards and that has been disappointing.

"Against Celtic I was feeling better and hopefully I can build on that. But I know at the end of the day I will be judged on the goals I score.

"I wear the No 9 on the back of my jersey and I play for Rangers.

"That brings it's own pressure, but I know I will soon be back scoring goals.

"The goals are never very far away and I will turn this around."

I don’t want to quit Ibrox (but I might have to)

KRIS BOYD insisted last night he never wants to leave Rangers.

But with the cash-strapped Ibrox club poised to deliver a crushing contract blow, the fans' favourite knows he might have to.

SunSport revealed yesterday that Rangers have started the ball rolling on a new deal for the 26-year-old striker.

But it's emerged Boyd will be forced to take a whopping drop in wages if he is to stay with his boyhood heroes.

TALKS ... Walter Smith

He wants a pay deal in line with other regulars in Walter Smith's first team.

The former Scotland star is paid less than frontline team mates Kyle Lafferty and Kenny Miller - despite being the club's top goalscorer for the last three years.

Now Boyd - who is free to talk to other clubs in January - could be forced out of Ibrox unless Gers bosses up the ante.

Boyd told SunSport: "Everybody knows my feeling towards Rangers.

"Everybody knows I love playing for and scoring goals for this club.

"If I had my way, I wouldn't ever want to leave Rangers but it's not up to me.

"It is down to the club and we'll need to wait and see what they say. I just want to concentrate on doing my best for Rangers until the end of the season and then whatever happens happens.

"As far as I am aware they haven't even spoken to my agent. But they have his number so they know what they have to do.

"I don't want to get involved in any contract talk through the papers because I've seen how it has affected other players in the past.

"I'm not prepared to go down that road, my agent will deal with it."

Boyd was taken to hospital following a clash of heads with Celtic's Landry N'Guemo in Sunday's Old Firm game.

He was released almost immediately but will see a specialist this morning after seemingly aggravating the injury blowing his nose.

He revealed: "I have a fracture in my eye socket and when I blew my nose it opened up again and that allowed some air to penetrate.

"That said, it's a lot better today than what it was yesterday.

"I will have a clearer idea of where I stand in the morning.

"But it feels all right so that has given me hope that it's not as bad as I first thought."
