My point is that his system makes it very difficult for any two midfielders to play against their midfield three.  There is a huge space between our no 10 and the midfield pair.  As soon as they break into it with pace, they can basically just pass around them and be running at our defence

I totally agree, it's baffling that we can see it and not Clement.

I've been against the idea of him being replaced because we can't just keep changing the manager and hoping things will improve without changes in other areas.  He also did appear to improve things when he came in.

BUT - he seems to have a completely rigid view on his preferred system which is highly unlikely to work against the other mob unless we get a time machine and sign Patrick Viera and Graeme Souness to play as the two central midflielders against their 3.  He has also watched his captain get destroyed by Maeda time and again and done nothing about it.  The persistence with Wright after we had tried to offload him last year was another mystery.

Nothing is going to happen right now, and frankly Guardiola would struggle to win the league with this squad anyway, but if we look miles off it again at the next OF game, he'll have to go.

That said, if Aberdeen beat Motherwell and we lose on Sunday that 8 point gap will be a major issue

We make their midfield look like Busquets/Iniesta/Xavi in their prime, if we'd control just a little the middle of the pitch, they would do nothing.

It's on the manager if these players don't do their job, train them, talk to them, maybe they need a kick in the ass, looks like Clement does none of these things.

I think the board extended Clement's contract in full knowledge the season was likely to be a write off. All the noises coming out of Ibrox are that we're carrying out a rebuild with a view to finally sorting long standing issues. It's only the start of the rebuild. The contract extension was a way of showing commitment to the long term plan and stopping the clamour for yet another sacking when the inevitable happens and we lose more ground in the league (imo).

That doesn't make any sense to me.

So now, the board (and us) are stuck with him because we owe him more cause he has his long term contract signed. If we did nothing, the sack would've cost way less. Why would we do that ? I don't get it.

The similarities between us and Man Utd are quite scary.

Their players reacted in the exact same manner we did when Alexander Arnold’s goal was disallowed. Quick as a flash they were 2-0 down, go 3 down and then know the game is done so play about with the ball a bit.

Both managers coming out with some nonsense and clearly both boards together couldn’t run a bath.

Apathy is our biggest problem right now. We’re past anger and that’s worrying, because on this road we just choose to accept it because we’re tired of fighting the same fight for the best part of two decades.

I'd say we looked the same clubs until they changed their board.

This summer they made moves on the market that could be smart, the opposite of what Woodward and co were doing before.

Now we have Koppen for transfers we look a bit better but the whole structure behind the manager (and maybe the manager too) doesn't look sustainable to me, at all.

There's a lot of issues in our team, but our complete lack of ability to control games is a consistent over the last couple years which a good ballplaying 6 in the middle of the pitch would help with a lot.

Most of our midfielders just seem to panic under pressure and take the easy pass back or lose the ball. I was really hoping Raskin would be that player when he came in but that obviously hasn't worked.

Can't be sure but I think Barron could grow into that role and become that type of player.

    We can hope at least.

Think Portugal have a good shout.

Makings of a good tournament as there are several teams could take it

Their team is really strong, only thing that can stop them to play good and go far is Cristiano Ronaldo imo.

Scores a free kick after 20 efforts, cant defend and dosent have the balls to be a Rangers captain.Thinks he is better than he is and more so since he got his own FIFA penalty run up .Best for him and us if he goes in the summer.

Doing a career mode on fifa and I'm rebuilding almost everything, got a £15m offer from Aston Villa in the first days of the window for him, jumped in my car and took him myself to Birmingham the next hour.

I decided I better read the article so I could find the bit you have highlighted and found this sentence as well:

"Willie’s experience, leadership responsibilities within the Scottish education system"

They forgot catholic before "education system" :thepope:

  9. Love the effort he put into it, seems like a nice lad and everything but I can't see him being our number 1 striker long term. He is slow and not very comfortable with his body, his stats are good but hiding too much in my opinion.

If we can't get a decent fee for him this summer I'd keep him to rotate with Danilo if the Brazilian plays good.

If we play like we did in the second half tonight we are in with a decent chance in the final.

Play like we did in the first half and we will be conceeding the game in the first 30 minutes.

I'm up for it, the players fucking be!

Depends if we play with 3 midfielders or a double pivot who does'nt have the legs to match their 3 MFs.

Obviously we'll need to find someone else to take the penalties.

Tav's scored some fantastic free kick but they're pretty rare these days.

I bet Sterling will get as many assists from right back as Tav has recently, he was dangerous coming in at the back post against them as well as providing that great cross for Silva.

Kinda prefer Sterling in the middle of the pitch now.

We have no wide players available bar McCausland and Wright and yet we’re still shoe horning people out wide

We should’ve packed the middle of the park on Saturday, narrow 4-3-1-2 formation. All the players able to play in their preferred position and could’ve given us a fighting chance in midfield. If we’ve no wide players back for the cup final that’s how we should be starting but we already know nothing will change

Would that work? I don’t know but I know what won’t work is doing the same thing against them we’ve done from the start of the last 3 OF games and expecting a different result

I said the exact same thing saturday, I don’t see anything else we could do to get some kind of result.

My fear is, Clement will likely stick to his 4231 and say he can do no miracle with injuries and levels of his players.

I have to disagree about McGregor. To me it looked like Lawrence was supposed to be man marking him and it worked for the most part but the tarriers had this tactic where Scales/Vickers would get the ball and Lawrence would then leave bug eyes to shut them down (and leave bug eyes free) and they'd then pass to Hatate/O'Reilly who would then do a quick one touch pass into McGregor and then he'd be off to do what he wants while Lawrence is left watching him. It happened umpteen times and I've no idea how Clement never picked up on this as I did and I'm far from a tactician.

Fair enough someone should then go to him but if they're all picking up a man what are they supposed to do?

I see what you mean but in my original post I was saying that I wish there was no « wingers » and 3 MF’s, with Lawrence or Cantwell behind two ST’s. A think it could’ve helped a lot.

But the main thing that I don’t understand is why we hoof the ball that much, we are scared to play and build our chances. I really don’t understand.

  14. I trust him when he says in press conference before the game that there will be changes in the summer and the board knows it, but I also see things about his teams selection that confuses me.

When he came in he made a huge impact, doing and saying the good things, properly, as a Rangers manager should be. Last few weeks, the Football hasn’t been great and it’s getting worse.

I don’t understand why we can’t play 3 midfielders to counter theirs and have some control in the game. We were all over the place since the first minute, hoofing the ball through Barisic to Silva everytime, no control of the midfield whatsoever everyone could saw that.

With Raskin, Sterling and Diomandé in the middle of the park, I actually think we could’ve picked a result at the piggery. No pace on the wings ? Play a 4312 with Lawrence or Cantwell behind Dessers and Silva/Roofe.

I’m no manager but I’m seeing things lastly, that I don’t like at all.
