Any better league and some of the players who deserted the club and its fans in their hour of need might stll be here, including my compatriots from the States. Just pointing that out. It's understandable, though infuriating, that professional athletes would have trouble playing today. From their point of view, what do they have to play for? If the league reorganization goes through, they'll still be in the lowest tier playing the same teams as last year. There's still that ridiculous transfer embargo in place for another window. They've been called the worst club ever to wear the shirt and today proved the criticism is not far wrong. They're managed by a man who sometimes makes bewildering tactical decisions and that doesn't help. All that said, I am not excusing the players, because there is still one thing to play for that matters more than everything else, and despite everything that has gone on it should still be more than enough: the shirt. If you can't get motivated for the shirt you wear each week then you're in the wrong business.
