  1. I know there's another thread for memories of Coop, but I'm hoping my poem might merit a thread of its own. It's taken me all bloody day A Kind of Magic Its hard to believe its been seventeen years, Since I sat in the playground and burst into tears. On that fateful morning in March 95, When I first heard the news Davie Cooper had died. It hit me for six, it just couldnt be true, The man was my hero, he bled royal blue. But there was no mistake and the news was confirmed, The Rangers had lost their favourite son. Struck down in his prime with a ball at his feet, Death the opponent even Coop couldnt beat. At just thirty-nine hed been taken to heaven, To play on the wing in Gods first eleven. The nation was grieving and in just a few hours, Ibrox was a shrine of scarves and of flowers. When the school day was over I went with my mates, To pay my respects at the famous blue gates. With a tear in my eye I stood in the crowd, As the sun momentarily broke through the cloud. I looked to the skies and pictured him grinning, Its not the end, its just the beginning. I managed a smile though the scene was tragic, Memories of Coop are a kind of magic. Who could forget that cultured left foot? The pass inside Aitken for Durranty to shoot. That mazy dribble against Ilves Tampere, Ghosting past men like they werent even there. The strength, the control and the keepy up, For that wonder goal in the Drybrough Cup. The best free kick that Hampden has seen, In the Skol Cup final against Aberdeen. The penalty in Cardiff to take Scotland through, Nerves of steel from the Moody Blue. We miss you Davie and wonder when, Or if well see your like again. A fan who played for the team he loved, Still watching down on the Gers from above. And when he does hell hear us sing, Of Davie Cooper on the wing. RIP Davie
  2. Good shout but hasn't played in the league. Cyberpints to Orangeclement, Manticore, Pipedown, TexasGer and a wee lie down for WeeBlue Can you please confirm that we have 8? Think all nine have been mentioned. Christian Benitez, Michael Brown, Wes Brown, Barry Ferguson, Joe Hart, Aaron Hughes, Richard Hughes, Benni McCarthy and James McCarthy

  4. You have to name the players rather than the managers mate. Barry Ferguson is one. Yeah I was just trying to work out the manager first! So we're looking for 9 players called Ferguson are we? No we're quite obviously not looking for nine players called Ferguson. But well done on naming a manager. Ah, pennys dropped! Wes Brown and the guy Brown from Portsmouth (you know, the hatchet man)... Benni McCarthy Chu Cho Benitez Barry Ferguson O'Neil from Portsmouth Theres 6 so far. Plus Aaron Hughes = 7 That's the spirit. Don't think Gary O'Neil's played EPL football this season, but the rest are correct, as is Joe Hart.
  5. Well done guys. Benni McCarthy, Christian Benitez and Aaron Hughes are all correct.

  8. Name the 9 players who have played in the English Premiership this season who share a surname with a manager who has managed a club in the EPL this season?
  9. Never mind his mongo brother.....Gary Caldwell's heid could wipe out mankind.
  10. Titus Bramble and Gary Caldwell as an EPL central defensive pairing.....surely some kind of sick joke.
  11. Cheers guys. I'll give these sites a try.
  12. Sorry to be a pain but I'm a total technophobe. Just acquired an Ipod and was wondering if anyone could recommend a site for downloading songs which won't knacker my PC with viruses. Thanks in advance
  13. Booked Virgin train Glasgow - Manchester for £60 return mate. Not sure about availability now though.
  14. I didn't see the original RST statement but think that publically asking for next week's game to be played behind closed doors could prove to be a very shrewd move by the Trust and it's one that I welcome. We all know (David Edgar included) that the request will be rejected and Sellik Park will very much remain open next Sunday but putting the idea into the public domain and encouraging discussion on the matter in the week leading up to what is potentially a league decider shows considerable forethought on the Trust's part. Picture the scene if Novo or Darcheville have a Neil McCann type 90 minutes next Sunday and we achieve a victory that all but ends the Dims title hopes. The resulting Timplosion could make last Wednesday's disgraceful behaviour seem comparatively tame. You saw what these animals are like after a win. It would be naive to think that a title ending defeat would provoke much less than a mini riot amongst their support in and around the ground. In issuing this statement, the Trust has heightened awareness of the appalling behaviour of the Celtic support and the sub-standard security arrangements at their hole of a ground. Nobody (the police, the SFA, UEFA,) can say they weren't warned if things turn nasty next week. If the worst were to happen and a Bear/Bearette were to be seriously injured by a flying brick/coin/chairman, the Trust's request for closure at this particular ground will perhaps not seem such an unlikely proposal. I sincerely hope that the safety of our great away support is not compromised in any way next week but I would urge anybody attending to take great care, particularly if the result goes our way. I'm not a Trust member by the way, but see this release as a shrewd and commendable move.
  15. Fully expect to Tiger to romp it, but I've stuck a fiver each way on Adam Scott and a pound each way on JB Holmes. Probably need a rethink by tomorrow night when they both miss the cut.
  16. As a tribute to the man himself, we should take the money and run very fast with our heads down getting nowhere in particular
  17. I see from another thread that Archie Knox is to be assisted in his new post at Bolton by one Jimmy Phillips. Does anyone remember this guy from his time at Rangers. I seem to recall him being an understudy at left back to Stuart Munro/Jan Bartram at the time and he was straight out of the Maurice Ross book of Sh1te fullbacks.
  18. I'm shocked that somebody else remembers this piece of skill as vividly as I do more than twenty years on Bauba. I was only about 5 or 6 years old and it must have been one of my first ever trips to Ibrox. Coop skinning the united trio on the byline in front of the Govan Stand is certainly one of my first Rangers memories, and from that day on, Davie Cooper was to be my footballing hero. Memory plays tricks as you say bauba and I can't remember the defenders involved, but I'm sure I remember big Davie Dodds leading the line for United that day. A coupon like his is difficult to erase from memory no matter how hard you try.
  19. Going out Sunday til Thursday. No tickets though.
  20. Bloody Hell!! First Celtic nick Scott Brown from under our noses, then Accrington Stanley only go and steal Kenny 'Safe Hands' Arthur. I'm sure Barcelona will be kicking themselves too. Accrington B@stards! :angry2:
  21. Lionel Letizi. To be honest, I had never even heard of him before he signed, but when I saw his arrival at Murray Park on TV, I could just tell by his cheesy wee face, rubbish hair and thumbs up to camera gesture that he was going to be crap.
  22. Actions will speak louder than words on this one Mr Murray. No more smoke and mirrors act, get the cheque book out this summer, stop letting the media walk all over us and your position may just remain tenable. Signed for now Ivan_Dobsky
  23. Not so much a player I haven't appreciated, but Shota Arveladze has shown at Alkmaar what a prolific scorer he could have been if only Eck had played him through the middle
