  1. The NFL coverage is great - same in Chicago, where the best writing on the Bears and Cubs is now on the Athletic rather than in the big two newspapers. Never really found their football coverage particularly strong - either seems a bit fan based (Jordan Campbell) or from people who seem to have no clue what's going on. Wouldn't cancel over one misguided article, but also would subscribe for football coverage on it in general, but it's certainly a must for US sport now
  2. Got tickets sorted yesterday for all three games - be a bit weird in a half filled Wembley, but looking forward to getting back into a ground in a few weeks. Five in our group, two with seasons in the Govan front (including mine), one at the Bridge and the other two are Jags fans. Still plenty Bears in the Scotland support despite the impression some want to give on here. I reckon Paterson will start both games at Hampden, assume Clarke will go for a study team down in London, so could see O'Donnell starting there and Nathan only coming on if we go a few goals behind. Just delighted he's in the squad. And folk saying it's a pish squad - there are key players from Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Southampton, Villa as well as promising young talent from Rangers and Chelsea. Probably one of the better squads we've had in years!! Quite funny the amount of people drawn to this thread that claim to either not like/care about international football, or don't care about Scotland
  3. As a long time Bears fan I can't get the smile off my face today!! First time ever I've felt like we have a genuine chance to move out of QB hell with the move up for Justin Fields Plus Rodgers might leave Green Bay, which would be the absolute icing on the cake!!
  4. Appreciate he's not long here but can we get Simpson to fuck - we've conceded goals whenever he's played and he's an absolute fucking bombscare Beyond that, I'm too angry with everyone (or indeed anyone) to contribute to any rational discussion on the squad - not one of them on the park today did themselves any favours, and to end the season, because that's it done now, like that, has me absolutely raging
  5. Would surely just go with 'Britt' on the back, might end up a best seller
  6. Beaton was ref at Hibs v Motherwell yesterday. Hibs second was a mile offside - which just reinforces the opinion that the standard at the moment is pretty fucking dire. Clancy has the Aberdeen game today. We have Alan Muir - who I have to admit, I have no real memory of as a ref, so hopefully that means he's been fairly anonymous in previous games??
  7. Think you can likely add one more to the list "Brought up in the East End of Glasgow, the 29-year-old is a celtic season ticket holder who makes the short walk over to Parkhead on matchdays when he isn't competing."
  8. Andy Little in commentary said he thought Simpson was just behind Wright for Man of the Match, and Itten was the best player second half Not seen anything from Simpson I like - don't even think there's much potential there
  9. To be honest, I think the club can get away with winging it with fans cash this season based on the fact none of us knew what to expect in terms of getting in the ground. Plus everyone is clearly happy with 55 and the overall performance of the team. But disappointed that they've failed to acknowledge the financial sacrifice regular fans made this season, or indeed, the fact they haven't bothered to lay out contingency plans if the same was to occur next season. Can't really be dressed up any other way, season ticket holders received £10 worth of TV coverage per home game (available to any random punter) and nothing else, for a sum that was significantly more than the £190 value that amounts to - and that's not even taking into account households with multiple season ticket holders who in real terms got even less for their money. Appreciate it's always better to be 'staunch' on a message board, but I think the club have been a bit pish in the way they handled things regards last season, especially if you add on the MyGers fiasco, and it seems to be the way they look to be approaching next season with these type of announcements. Not impressed. Fuck knows how I would feel if we hadn't won the league!!!!
  10. Thought Christian Horner messed up letting Hamilton undercut Verstappen with the pit stop strategy - going to be close this year, but expect Mercedes to make adjustments to the car as we go forward, but get the feeling Honda can't do much more with the Red Bull. Thought yesterday just proved Hamilton is by far and away the most talented driver out there, and without doubt, has the best winning mentality amongst all the top drivers!
  11. I absolutely agree, Clarke definitely sets up not to lose - if he gets the odd win, then it can lead to qualification (which he's done with the Euro's). I think it's where Scotland are at the moment, given they lack any credible option up front and we're much the same way in central defence. Really not too bothered about players playing out of position at international level, as long as they're not one of our players, especially if it leads to a certain level of success (which I would set the bar at as qualification for tournaments). As for Scotland being shite - I doubt you would get much of an argument Fromm anyone, but being Scottish, it's who I support at International level, so much like Rangers, it's not really an option to go in search of another team P.S I know you were bored of the subject, but I'm trying to avoid doing work at the moment - so thought I would reply anyway!!
  12. There's no come back, he nailed me good and proper!! I'm away down to the border to shout at the English!!
  13. But who would you play instead of McTominay? As much as he's a better midfielder, Clarke has stopped Scotland shipping goals and has made them look a more cohesive unit, and part of that has been the back three and two wingbacks - not dissimilar to the way he set out his team at Kilmarnock. McTominay, after a shaky start, has actually looked pretty good back there - and the experience probably helps his overall game, given he plays the defensive holding role for Man Utd. It's not club football, you can't go out and sign a decent replacement and we have far more serviceable midfielders, but not so many decent defenders - so I can understand the logic, if it works. Getting to the Euro's is probably proof that it works better than anything we have recently tried??
  14. McTominay has played in defence the last few games for Scotland - was initially quite ropey but has settled into the role. Would be very surprised to see that change - Clarke tends to be very dogged in his selection and clearly sees this as his best defence. Likely Jack and McGregor just ahead. It'll get results, just won't be very pretty to watch
  15. Defence will be Robertson, Tierney, Gallagher, McTominay and O'Donnell - which is why I'm a bit surprised he didn't consider Paterson, as he would work quite well in that system, and certainly be more of a threat going forward than O'Donnell. But typical Clarke, dogged and light on flair
  16. Due to Covid I'm working with our Scottish office - I live in Glasgow and can't do my regular job, so got seconded back to support them - been working on and off with a lad who I was told was a massive celtic fan, so had made a very conscious decision never to talk about football, just to keep everything work related. On a call last week, got to the end and did the courtesy, 'hope you're OK, family doing well etc'. Guy starts going on about how he can't sleep because he's a big sellick fan and it's eating him up, and he can't cope with the way things are going. Doesn't matter what they've done, trebles etc, ten in a row was everything. Just keeps going on and on. I'm at the point where it's too late to say anything and literally trying hard not to laugh out loud, have tears rolling down my face. He must have gone on for ten minutes without stopping, how it's not fair, everyones against them, the board, Lawell, Lennon and how much this means to him. Just incredible the level of hurt. Ended the call and still haven't told him - really wish I could have taped it. Absolute comedy gold!!
  17. Girl I know works with the police just said to me that 'I hear your South African player got in a bit of bother at that party'. Corrected her by saying it was youth players and the names are pretty much known. She was fairly adamant it was a S Arican player - knows nothing about football other than who I support. She had no idea of names, and maybe just listening to office gossip, but she seemed sure so maybe something to the Zungu rumours after all?? Said it was a definitely a party - not a delivery driver grassing up players. Make of it what you will - assume we'll know soon enough
  18. And to be honest, maybe it was Friday night/Saturday morning - genuinely can't keep track of the fucking days right now!!!
  19. Good shout - that would make far more sense!! Was loud and more like firecrackers, so that would fit the profile
  20. I resemble that comment!! Probably entirely unrelated but there were fireworks going off in that direction back of midnight, early Sunday morning - was thinking who the fuck would be dumb enough to be setting off fireworks during lockdown. But I guess youth footballers and their pals would probably fit that profile!! As I say, no reason to think they would be linked, other than I've no doubt the police would have been called and it was around that time...but the fireworks could have been anywhere over that side of Hyndland
  21. The Frimpong transfer is interesting - and definitely worth discussing. It's sets a new benchmark for transfer fees out of Scotland - in the context where a Barasic or Katic could be moving in the summer? It also indicates their mentality towards the league - he's one of their better players, could have held off to the summer with any potential sale, but suggests that they are taking the money now because they've to a great extent chucked it. Be interesting if they cash in on Edouard if there is interest from Leicester
